I guess the favourite would always be the 1976 Glasgow Apollo recording. I think that would be mine. They never released another full live album until the best part of 30 years later.
The best of the rest, for me anyway, are the tracks recorded at Liverpool Pops in 2005 and given away with the Sunday papers. I think that's possibly the best the band have ever sounded and a full release would be terrific.

.. that would be the Roundhouse for me. I used to endlessly listen to the 76 Apollo recording, but I don't any more. I've either listened to it too often or it doesn't hold the same appeal any longer it did for my younger self. Probably a cross between both. Time for a new one though ! (recorded during the German acoustic tour )

I personally like "live at the NEC" from the 80's.

Difficult one this. Like most, I loved the Glasgow recording. I also loved the NEC abbreviated LP and the Minehead video (video?? - still got it, can't play it) But in terms of what I now put on more than any other, I'll go for Live Alive Quo. It still strikes a chord with me; I guess it triggers a memory that I can't fathom. No accounting for taste eh?

Interesting topic this one, given the sheer number of live albums the band have released in the last 9 years. It's into the thirties I think. I don't think I've listened to even half of the more recent ones because attending the gigs plus the static set list has meant there was no need really. However, I always give a listen to anything that's just a little bit different; like the tracks from, say, Quid Pro Quo or Bula Quo and, this year, Richie singing and the 'new' Don't Drive My Car. Then back on the shelf they go I listened to two FF CD's all the way through; there was no need to listen to any of the others. There's repetition and then there's repetition.

Live 76 for the best official releases.
The worst of any live albums would be Live Alive Quo as I hate it, I recently gave my copy away.

For a while I listened to (and watched) two of the FF gigs from the first tour (Hammersmith and Wembley) quite frequently. They may have been better musically on the second tour, but somehow the gigs lacked the magic from the first. I don't need perfection - sometimes a glorious mess is just fine. Got quite a few LHN recordings as well and while I consider Westonbirt Arboretum or Ipswich quite good, I just don't feel the need to listen to them - or buy any more of those. I find the set they're playing live boring, so what's the point to additionally listen to all these merely slight variations ?

I think we can all appreciate that the Live Here Now issues are principally aimed at those who were attending the particular gig concerned. I just keep adding to the collection because I have a freakish need to do so The Westonbirt CD was very novel at the time because it was the first fully recorded gig that had been released on CD since 1977. 30 years between them! After that, of course, we had the Pictures.... live releases and because the set had been fairly radically altered by Quo's standards the first one from Oxford was a real treat. Since then its all been very predictable and samey but, as I say, it's really for those who were there. I think I'm actually missing one. One of two from the Bula Quo tour. I have Hamburg; I think the other might have been London. I'll have to have a browse online and see if anyone is willing to part.

Don't count on it. Scottish guys and life-expectancy .. hm, don't want to bring you down. Must have to do with that seductive alcohol - so better stay strong when that red wine winks at you

So you gave it to him to annoy him ? Maybe he simply pretended he loved it to annoy you ? Brothers ..

I like the 'Live' album but can't say I love it. First thing that always springs to mind is cowbells. Why accordion is not acceptable but cowbells are is beyond me. Anyway, quite a few tracks on it I don't like, Just Take Me, ITABW, Rain, ROLD.
When it comes to the FF era I love disc 3 on the 8 disc boxset, live at the BBC. The first part of it, think it's from a 1973 gig from memory, (I don't have it with me). What swagger, crowd in the palm of their hand, utter brilliance.
Hard to compare eras because I guess later releases have the benefit of technology. I do agree with Mortified. Those discs you got free with the Daily Mirror (I think), Liverpool Pops gig are superb. Caroline and Down Down have never sounded that good.
As an aside, on amazon there's a used copy of the 8 disc box set referred to above (which I've got) and they want £400 for it. Is that right!?

That 1973 gig I remember listening to on my transistor radio as a 16-year old. My mate taped it on his new fangled cassette player and we played it endlessly. It was one of those In Concert broadcasts and we'd just seen the band about two days before. To say we were blown away is an understatement I particularly love Rain from Liverpool Pops as well. Rick is absolutely immense, as are the crowd, who were top notch that night. Me and sis were there. And, yes, the BBC box set is on offer for £399.95. I can't see them getting it. Is it really that rare?

Well, it was a limited edition and went for more than the official price nearly from the start, so there is demand. It'll depend whether those wanting it have the spare money. Should've bought more than one .. .

The Frantic Four's Final Fling for me.
I used to love the Live! album, but I find it too fast these days. I think it's got to be up there with the Jeff Rich era for tempo!

Plenty of Live releases whether official or unofficial radio broadcasts of gigs that are amazing... my top Live gig that I could listen to endlessly will always be the Milton Keynes concert. Band on top form
Speaking in terms of visual releases (VHS/DVDs), I love the way the Birmingham N.E.C 1989 gig was shot... One long music video
My favourite shot of said gig is during the Mystery Medley, when the camera crane is coming down from behind the lighting rig focused on Rick

She was unimpressed So I gave her the Rockin' Through The Years video from a couple of years before and she was happy as pie.
