Quite like that, sounds like its late at night in a smokey bar room, with Leonard Cohen singing Nice tone on the guitar. How did you know about them?

They're obviously building up their own fb site and yt channel at the moment so some content may not be available all the time. As far as I've heard there are more self penned songs like The Soldier to come in the near future.

The Soldier reminds me of early Soundgarden. The opening riff is quite retro in a 70's sort of way as well. But it's good. I'm not mad on the lead breaks (as I never was with Soundgarden either) and things like that tend to put me off a bit. I always think if you're not a soloist, don't stick one in for the sake of it. But they're darker than I thought you'd have gone for, Your Snakeness The earlier links don't work but I get the picture. Ta for sharing

Ta for sharing There is a touch of a Soundgarden influence in there, although without the the sheer unforced genius that only comes along twice in my lifetime. As for the lead breaks in Soundgarden, well Soundgarden didn't have enough of them, a diametrically opposed viewpoint!! It may be that, sonically, it wasn't to your taste but Kim Thayil is T he Man when it comes to lead breaks, again IMHO. Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd ain't slouches either. As for Chris Cornell.....

Yup Like that snakelady . Is there news on an album yet? As far as I know Drownin' is the appetizer for the new EP, but it's not included. Don't know if it has already been released - I'll try to find out. mortified - My main gripe with the band used to be the singing, not the solos, although my taste has been very much affected by Francis' melodic style. Same goes for the singing though . For some reason I like this one despite my narrow-mindedness . As I merely know one song from Soundgarden I can't comment on any similarities or whether they've been influenced ..

No, the EP hasn't been released yet. They recorded it in August, but they're still waiting for the artwork to be ready and they're not gonna release before they find a label. So that is gonna happen sometime in the next months. In that music scene they are in, the 20th of April is probably the best release date they can go for right now. Its a big date for releases in the stoner rock scene. Last year, the 20th of April had albums like Sleep's highly anticipated but very disappointing "The Sciences" or Ruff Majik's "Seasons" coming out that day (which is probably the pinnacle of Garage Rock thus far), as well as lots of other albums. The Color Of Iris' "Drowning" is their opener live, replacing "The Soldier" which was their first ever single released and used to be their opener live. "Drowning" was specifically written to be an opener. The vocals also have really evolved since January 2018. By the end of 2018, the singer had definitely improved his skills and is way more comprehensible, tho I still wish there would be more than one singer in that band. The bass player I know for a fact that he can sing (he does in his side Project band "No Kids, Three Money"). So hopefully that will happen. Any band will always profit from more than one person singing. Example is Eternal Engine, a band from not far from here that I've seen a couple times live and even booked for. Their songs are great, I like the singer, their style is good. But listening to them for 45 minutes with just 1 person singing, the vocals kind of become old. They're still good, but a bit of variety never hurts. For contrast, bands like Pollinator from South Africa (a trio) have all 3 band members singing. The female bassist, the male guitarist and the male drummer. Which makes for a great variety of vocals. Either way, The Color of Iris have only just begun. So we'll be hearing alot more from them in the future. And with more variety as well. Thats it from me for now. Back to lurking.

The Color of Iris are currently working on their first full length album. They're a three-piece band now after their bassist "Maxi Vrba" left the band to focus on other musical endeavours in heavier styles (extreme Metal). I have uploaded several of their live performances I filmed to my Youtube Channel a while ago. You can watch them here: www.youtube.com/channel/UCCEbKftFUXFwfoSczfdn-Sw/videos
