Unreleased Remasters ..

Last night I came across this by chance. Some of it reminded me of the This And That CD we got as a bonus with one of those book special editions a few years ago other stuff more resembles the 82 rehearsals. What really caught my attention though, is the Wild Side Of Life version, considering it's one of my all time favourite Quo songs.
Does anybody have an idea where this is from ? Did I miss any acoustic releases ?

I've actually got this somewhere as well. I've listened to snippets of it but then forgot all about it. When I put it on iTunes, it played as one long track so it wasn't easy to skip between them. I think Mountain Lady is a longer version if memory serves me correctly. Not sure about the rest although the two Caroline demos are fairly obvious. 

It's all very unofficial. I've no idea where it comes from. I suppose the suggestion is that these tracks were being considered for inclusion on the various remastered CD's but that's just a wild guess. The inclusion of Rock 'N' Roll Floorboards and Blondes Don't Lie would have been good. They're not exactly classics but they're not at all bad. I guess they might turn up officially now on any future Rick Parfitt solo releases.

Dreamin' - Just the original Naughty Girl version that was cancelled and changed before being released AS Dreamin'.
Something 'Bout You Baby I Like - Acoustic Guitar Backing track used on the album version but isn't audible.
Rock n' Roll Floorboards - Planned B-side to Naughty Girl, but was cancelled.
Mountain Lady - Different take / 10 minute version of the song.
Wild Side Of Life - Simply the demo that we have had for a while now
Caroline Demos - They've been about for a long time
Blondes Don't Lie - Demo for a track that wasn't finished for the Perfect Remedy album
I Saw Barbara Dixon - Falling In / Falling Out; vocal take
Power Of Rock - planned single version? never released
Mad About The Boy - Bob Youngs site, as well as an In My Chair instrumental
Ol' Rag Blues - Bob Youngs Site

In fact most of them are off of Bob Youngs site.

Thanks    The WSOL demo must've escaped me then .. 
There's a lot of keys/synths on many of these recordings I thought, making them sound very 80s (well, many are 80s songs ..).WSOL as well though, the version that was released as single sounds so much better, rawer. Seems RG did a good job with it, despite the criticism.

The demo of Wild Side Of Life I always thought was pretty awful. It sounded like they were using some sort of synth to mimic a country fiddle. But maybe that was the point. It was a demo and they wanted to see what a fiddle might sound like before hiring a fiddler 

I actually think a fiddle would have sounded OK although I think it may have been too close to the original - and a bit radical for yer average 70's Quo fan!  :oo:

Quoincidence I've wondered about this - is Naughty Girl any different from Dreamin'? That is, in it being a different mix, different recording...

Nothing really different other than a little vocal bit Rick does during one section (Where the video starts)



He did it live but it was taken off simply so they could release it but under a new title. You can see them both look at each other in the video and Rossi mouths it, and the extended mix was completely different to the Wet Mix we ended up getting

Interesting! I have to say the mix does sound different - more punchy, maybe (though the YouTube compression might be fooling me). That would support my theory of the song being recorded with Dave Edmunds, like the next two singles, and being reworked by Pip.
