He was Iconic and had a unique Rhythm style and I loved him, but let’s be honest creatively he had been spent for years even by his own admission.

When you say the way Quo should have sounded. Seems like you mean every track on every album for the past 30 odd years should have gone “ chug chug “ !! Unsustainable imo. Both creatively and listenability wise.

Think the reality is that Rossi produces high volume and inevitably there will be some good and some bad. If RP had been a similar high volume writer there would have been a better balance. As time has progressed Rhino has started to provide some of that balance and has written some pretty credible songs IMHO

Sorry, Ive, but you've got to be really blinkered to consider LR a good rock song and the last REAL one at that. I consider it a persiflage of a rock song. It resembles a rock song, but those lyrics ..  If we're talking merely Rick songs GoGoGo would've been better - were it not for the RAOTW ending (what was he thinking ?!  ). And All That Money is better as well than LR, if not a rock song (and btw., who is it who sings about money  ?). Generally speaking, Run And Hide, Two Way Traffic, Dust To Gold, Frozen Hero or Moving On are the far better rock songs. If you don't believe me, put up a poll and have it verified.  As out of these RAH has been written last, that would have to be the last rock song (whatever REAL is supposed to mean ?). |

I really like Lets Rock but I do agree with you regarding the lyrics, I do think its better than GoGoGo. I don't believe that its the Last Real Quo song. |

The last real Quo song was the last one on the last album they recorded. But I'm being mischievous. If know precisely what we're getting at here. So on the basis that we're talking new songs, for me, it's Fiji Time. Which is ironic, don't you think? Completely left field of anything Quo have ever done. Incidentally, here's a little bit of trivia for you. Rhino said that he wanted to write Let's Rock with Rick because he loved the riff; he'd heard it when Rick was playing around with it, presumably on the bus or something. But Rick took it to Wayne Morris and that was that. I tend to ignore Quo lyrics as a rule. Initially anyway. It's the music that gets me; a riff, a melody, a hook, whatever. A good lyric is a real bonus. A bad one can occasionally detract but the riff is so good in this one that even hackneyed lyrics don't bring it down. |

No, it may not be "the last real Quo song", but I think it's a great little tune anyway. It rocks, the riffs sound great, it puts a smile on your face, so let's forget about the lyrics... It sounded fantastic live and got the crowd going way back when. Love this video clip here for various reasons even if it was a very rainy day: Hey, don't you interfere with my winding up Ive Let's Rock was Ok live, but I'll freely admit that lyrics do matter to me. Causes problems for me with a number of Rick's songs (i.e. Reality Cheque), but at least he was aware that they weren't his strong point. And to answer your question, @irp , according to your own definition of Quo (Rick+Francis) the last REAL Quo songs have been the three new ones from A2: One For The Road One Of Everything Is Someone Rocking Your Heart? |

Let's Rock is plain lazy.
The lyrics are banal.
Other than that it's meh, like most of the QPQ album, which is odd as it has best post JC song on it!!

It’s Quo by numbers.
I’ve nothing against the song per se. In some ways it reminds me of ‘All Stand Up.......Never etc’. Ok on the first few listens but then gets a bit tedious.
Not one of Ricks best IMO.
