Was invited by my old employer to attend one of Jeff Riches drumming events in the school...thought why not! Had bit of chat with him before children came in. As the hall doors opened and the classes arrived he played Quo songs bearing in mind these children aged from 5years old to 10 years old they were on the case loving the Quo. Jeff talked about history of drums, how he started with a snare drum and built up a kit with his parents help as a young boy and talked through all the different types of drums, very informative. Also talked about the various bands he had been with. He had the kids in palm of his hand and made sure quite a few had a go on various drums. Towards the end of performance every child in the hall was given a percussion instrument and whilst he played his kit they all joined in...it was VERY VERY noisy but oh what fun they had! An afternoon worth doing...as they all filed out of the hall he played Quo and they begged him to join in on his drums which took some persuasion but he did in the end...they left very happy ... staff came to the conclusion Monday was not a good day to do this as they would be drumming desks all week...should have been Friday so parents got the aftermath😂😂...wonder how many will be asking for drum kits ? What was evident was Jeff absolutely adores his drums..when playing them he was in world of his own with the biggest grin on his face. Chatted to him with couple of staff afterwards too...very nice person. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon

Jeff seems to not only have the love, but also a real talent for this and many a young drummer may have started their way into music in one of his classes. And Jeff may have even acquired one or two new Quo fans along the way as well. Must've been great to watch

My sister got his autograph for me at one of these drum things. She works in a school. She says he was very nice but he insisted on not taking any questions about Quo; that he wanted to concentrate on the drums and the kids. Fair point I thought.
He's been doing this since he parted company with the band and presumably makes a good living out of it.

Met him, got his signature... He's a nice guy and an excellent drummer Jeff was a fine drummer for Quo (imho),, but too fast I wouldn't blame too much of the speed back then on Jeff... it was mainly Rick and Frame. It's quite obvious on the Birmingham 1989 gig during the intro to Caroline. Rick starts off with a nice and steady tempo that eventually starts to shift faster, then Rossi comes in and it speeds up some more. The BPM goes from 155 to around 165 and stays as such when Jeff joins in. Live Alive Quo version of Caroline is 170 BPM and varies a bit around the 170 mark.
