At the suggestion of Snakelady, I'm going to continue with the head to head poll of one album versus the next, chronologically.
So after a runaway victory for Picturesque Matchstickable Messages over Spare Parts, Quo's first 2 (psychedelic albums) albums, it brings us to albums number 3 and 4, Quo's first two Rock albums, Ma Kelly's and Dog. Neither charted, but they did set the band back on the path they'd originally started on, rock n roll, or rhythm and blues. Both have been re-released over the years with additional tracks added, and whilst it's fine to discuss the related singles and bonus tracks, lets keep the voting for our preferred album to our opinions of the original album tracks.
Spinning Wheel Blues (Rossi/Young) Daughter (Lancaster) Everything (Rossi/Parfitt) Shy Fly (Rossi/Young) April, Spring, Summer Wednesdays (Rossi/Young) Junior's Wailing (White/Pugh) Lakky Lady (Rossi/Parfitt) Need Your Love (Rossi/Young) Lazy Poker Blues (Green/Adams) Is It Really Me/Gotta Go Home (Lancaster)
Umleitung (Lancaster/Lynes) Nanana (Extraction) Something's Going on in My Head (Lancaster) Mean Girl (Rossi/Young) Nanana (Extraction) Gerdundula (Manston/James) (Rossi/Young) Railroad (Rossi/Young) Someone's Learning (Lancaster) Nanana (Rossi/Young)

I'll start us off. I like some of the songs and can listen to them all, but never really been a big fan of Dog of 2 Head. So my vote goes to Ma Kelly!

The two-headed dog all day long. All down to personal taste of course but as I have never skipped any tracks on it and have bypassed several on dear Old Mother Kelly, it's an easy one. Not even close. I bought both in the same year; 1973. And I only really bought Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon because I was beginning to build up a few Quo records. I also thought it might grow on me. I'd listened to it in one of those booths you used to get in record Shops ("Bruce's Records" in this case) and thought it was OK but easily the weakest Quo album I'd heard. I actually think it still is but I fully appreciate what it was they were trying to do. It also has a couple of absolute gems on it that stick out like a boil on Kate Moss's ar$e. Dog Of Two Head is up there with the best albums I've ever owned. But that's Quo fans for you

Ma Kelly's for me.
Some albums from that time do sound of that time (if that makes sense?) but I think this still sounds good to this day.
I don't dislike Dog Of Two Head, far from it but there's more songs on MK that I'd like to hear live than DOTH.

I think Ma Kelly might well win this little straw poll. Which means I might as well chuck it. I'm SO out of step and have been since 1973. It's a long time to be wrong

I've not voted and it's tied at present.
I really can't decide, you could make a very good album if you combined the best tracks from them both:
Spinning Wheel Blues (Rossi/Young)
April, Spring, Summer Wednesdays (Rossi/Young)
Junior's Wailing (White/Pugh)
Is It Really Me/Gotta Go Home (Lancaster)
Umleitung (Lancaster/Lynes)
Mean Girl (Rossi/Young)
Gerdundula (Manston/James) (Rossi/Young)
Railroad (Rossi/Young)
Nanana (Rossi/Young)

Yep, there isn't much between the two, so I guess it'll stay close till the end. Which ones's going to progress to the next round in that case though ? Seems the formate is quite popular already - thanks for staging it, I Ain't Complaining

We're having rounds are we....that's news to me!! Me too. And if we have a Piledriver v Hello! I think that could be the tie of the round. Probably the ultimate winner. I'll get on to Bet 365 and put 20 quid on each WAY

Right, well I'm not going to lock the poll (because I hate it when I discover a poll a little too late and it's been locked and I can't vote), but I will declare the official voting closed after 2 weeks. ( snakelady you can move it to another section now if you want to). So after it being close for a long time, the Dog has streaked ahead late on and won by 12 votes to 7, with one person not liking either album. I consider DO2H Quos hardest, bluesiest, least commercial album; also at a mere 7 (full) tracks I think it is Quo's shortest album. But congratulations to the dog and the people who voted for it, you won! I'm going to start the next poll in the series, so look out for Piledriver vs Hello!
