I agree craydarr When I first got into Quo, it was a while before I caught up with the albums. And when I did, if there was a ballad, it was invariably written by Rick. I like this one.

It was one of Rick's favourite solos from Francis too. Shame they only played it the one tour and merely in the UK. I'd have loved to hear it live.

Not everyone's cup of tea but it is mine. One of Quo's best 'quieter' songs and a very fine solo from Mr Rossi. The opening bars take me right back to 1977/78. Gives me shivers! It was a surprise when it pitched up a few years back but it didn't go down all that great which is why I presume it was dropped after that. Or maybe because Rick struggles a bit with it vocally. But at least they gave it a shot. This is the very first time I've ever heard it live other than at the gig. There doesn't seem to have been a "Live Here Now" release that year (what year was it? 2010?). So I'm well chuffed to hear it!

When you think about it, it's just one song, but it lifts the whole gig experience to a fresher hence better level. - And what reaction did the band expect ? When they add a quiet and reflective song, it's no surprise it doesn't whip up a frenzy and instead calms down the audience. Which is not the same as not enjoying it ! Maybe to do with this mysterious flow .. but then they kept it in for the whole tour and didn't drop it straight away again the way they've done so often before after first night reactions, e.g. Most Of The Time. It was mentioned at the time that Rick had a cold, but maybe he generally wasn't happy with his singing voice could be another reason ..

Thrown an old song in and then got rid of it almost right away. There was a full length Little Lady in there for a while quite recently. I wonder if it's songs that Rick sang? I haven't really thought about it. You're right about audience reactions of course. Anything different - old or new - will always be met with a more muted response because that's how things are now. It's whether the band want to do it or not regardless. Just to change their routine a bit up there. From our point of view, I agree; it lifts the whole experience hearing something you don't expect. But I'm not sure we're in the majority. In fact, I'm pretty sure we're not.

You aim to please the majority, but don't completely neglect minorities. After all you don't want to lose them: They too are potential voters/customers .. So larger parts of the set will have to appeal to the general fan, but there's still room for a song or three for us - to keep us happy too and not lose us.

One of my favourite songs, and a beautiful solo from Francis too, probably one of his very best if I'm honest. A very much overlooked song, due to the album it was released on - But well worth a listen any time. I love listening to this and Living On An Island together - nice to listen to on a lazy sunny summer evening.
Rick Roper.

What don't you like Col, the song in general or just that performance of it? I hate the song, I hate that type of song. I hate Quo doing that type of song.

I like the orginal from 1977 album more, this is to strained for me, Rick's voice was not that good in those days, he miss many of the notes in this clip for example... But always glad that they brought this song up in their list, it's still a wonderful one!

They also brought Soinning Wheel Blues into one of the medlies that year which was frustrating .
I’d love to have heard it in its own right, maybe at the start of the encore

Even if it was just one part of a medley, it gave the whole set some excitement and freshness. Shows how starved we are for changes ..

Again, it was never on any official Live Here Now release, which is a pity. It's one of those songs that I think would go down really well live if they let it bed in. It's got a great groove and I'd have much preferred that to the version of Junior's Wailing they persisted with before Rick's departure. But "I'd have preferred" is an individual thing. They have other fish to fry.
