The worst weather ever for that Glasgow gig. Thankfully it was indoors. I didn't know what to expect. As it was, they played for about 50 minutes and were supported by Nazareth! It was also the only time I ever saw the band play Let's Work Together. It didn't make the set later that winter. Where does the time go indeed? I'd just come back from honeymoon in Kenya and still had the $hits.

I wasn't aware of the event at the time - how would I ? The internet hadn't arrived yet, I didn't even cast a glance at any teenage or music magazines and most of all I had become a part-time fan max. due to the underwhelming 80s output. Then I bought the album and thought WOW, my Quo is back! The strength of that album was what made me buy tickets for the gig in Frankfurt later that year. It was good, not great and I didn't feel the need to rush and buy tickets for the next tour, but I waited with anticipation for the next album. Needless to say I didn't saw them again till the 00s, but RTYD is still one of my all time favourite Quo albums. Someone wrote about it at the time that maybe in another 25 years Quo would do another event like this - on earth, moon, Mars .. That would've been 2016 then. I'm still waiting !

It wasn't that well publicised at first. Not a month in advance. In fact, I can't remember how I first heard about it. I do remember seeing an advert or something about a "rock 'til you drop marathon'. It might have been in the local press. But I had no idea what it was all about or even if anyone else was involved. Quo were coming and that was all that mattered. I went along to Virgin Records and they had tickets so I bought them. I didn't see the start of it all on TV because I was heading for Glasgow. Quo were on in the afternoon. It was only when I bought that huge double video of the event that I sort of got a flavour of what had been going on. The album hadn't come out by that stage I don't think but it was a bit of a bonus because I'd already seen Quo that summer supporting Rod Stewart. This thing came round quite quickly after that. Just as an aside, the tour later that year had a terrific set list which included Like A Zombie, Fakin' The Blues, One Man Band, Rock 'Til You Drop and No Problems. As well as a full length Forty Five Hundred Times of course. Changed days

The Livingston Forum!! I'll take your word for it! I'm never 100% sure when the more familiar songs pop in and out. Yeah, Livingston Forum was a superb gig. If an odd one. They seemed to just stick it on the end of the winter tour. So much so it was in January! I think they announced it very late on as well. They probably re-recorded it because they were dropping it from the set. A saved for posterity type thing. They could have put on Heavy Daze and Better Times and saved themselves the bother

The Livingston Forum!! Yes Col, they played 45 HT on the RAOTY Greatest Hits tour. I thought they put it in the set for 2 reasons, 1, to promote that it was on the album that would be released next year, 2, because they had room to put it in the set because they didn't have any new songs to play (as they'd quickly dropped all the Ain't Complaining and Perfect Remedy songs except Burning Bridges).
I too wish they'd have left it in the set the year after, but they added 3 (or 4) of the other songs from RTYD so needed to make space for them.
I was thinking about this version of 45HT the other week actually. Are there any bootlegs or You tube video's of this version? I couldn't find anything on You tube Does anyone remember how long it was?

I had a bootleg of 4500 Times from 1990 once - I think recorded at Wembley? I didn't play it very much because it sounded slightly speeded up.
I think it was about 12/13 minutes - about the same length as the re-recorded version.
I also think that they played it live so that they could get it rehearsed well enough to record it for the album.
I think they ditched it because half the audience didn't know what it was (see Jason Hodgson's interview with Francis from Record Collector '94).
