I thought I'd seen my last Quo gig after Rick died as I couldn't see them being the same afterwards. And I also couldn't really see myself enjoying the new aquostic style. But I was given tix for the Albert Hall show, and although I pretended to be pleased, I was secretly a bit disappointed as I didn't want to have my Quo live memories damaged by a below par show.
But I thought it was great. You know, there were a lot of songs that I hadn't heard live before, and once they'd got out of their seats, it wasn't that different from the electric show. And I thought they got the balance right between the new type of sound and the traditional Quo style. I thought the accordion worked well, and the gig was 10 times better than I expected.

Thanks for the review poledriver and welcome to the board Will be my first Aquostic gig later this year and I'm not 100% sure what to expect or indeed whether I'll enjoy it. Will attend with an open mind though and see how we go, hopefully I'll come away having enjoyed it.

I wonder how good they will be at Wolverhampton in December? I just hope they have chosen a better support act or none at all. Their previous acoustic set there had to follow abysmal "entertainment" that made me want to throw rotten eggs or tomatoes at the stage.

quodlibet aka granny, I think we had the same support in Glasgow. Can't remember what they were called but I seem to remember them being described as "cowboy punk" (whatever that is). Not the type of support act that I had envisaged!

Don't know about you, but we'll get Ken Hensley supporting them and I absolutely look forward to that. He was Heep for me, songwriting genius, and they never got over his leaving IMO. Hope you get him as well .. Concerning Quo: I'm so relieved they've stuck with the original acoustic set and merely updated it with some of the A2 songs and not turned it into a hits set, the way they did for the Hydepark gig.

quodlibet aka granny , I think we had the same support in Glasgow. Can't remember what they were called but I seem to remember them being described as "cowboy punk" (whatever that is). Not the type of support act that I had envisaged! This is from my review at the time, even then I couldn't remember their name. But............the support? I didn't see all of it but I spent most of the time they were on trying to decide which of two audiences they were most suitable to entertain ...... 1.) A free concert for an OAP's afternoon club. 2.) Early evening "family" entertainment at a holiday camp 50 years ago. I have seen better than 1. at a local chapel and that included a cup of tea and food. (all free) Both 1. and 2. would have enjoyed the encouragement to participate in silly gestures and inane vocals.
