Hold on, who's the guitarist on the far left? Maybe I should recognise him but I don't. He looks like Rick in 1968! Surely that can't be!! Can it?

Ah. You've updated.... I'm still none the wiser Apparently he supported Quo on their British tour in 2004. He was one half of a duo called Who's That Girl. They played cover songs at the time, The Beatles, Chuck Berry, Tina Turner and so on. Oh yeah, I remember them. They supported Quo in Zurich in 2003 as well. They weren't my cup of tea but were good enough at what they did. I take it Quo need an extra guitar player in there just as they did when Freddie and Rick both played. And with Freddie unavailable (actually, I think unwilling ) this is Plan B. The Ralf and Richie show. Thank you for the info, Inna. I'd have got quite a surprise next Thursday!

They played cover songs at the time, The Beatles, Chuck Berry, Tina Turner and so on. They met Quo at a festival in the Netherlands and were asked by the band to support them on their 2004 tour. He speaks highly of them and describes them as "down-to-earth guys" and very nice to be with. Their motto at the time was, The people don't know us, so they should at least know the songs we play. He must be elated to get the opportunity to be part of the band now he once supported. Remember ? They supported Quo twice here, Inna. First time the original 'traffic report' was played over the speakers, but for the second tour the (Who's That) girl had recorded a German version, sadly lacking all the subtle hints from the original. Can't find it any more on yt ..

Spoilers to follow ( for anyone reading this who is still to see the show and wants surprised)
I was there on Tuesday and I really enjoyed it.
I think the rule of thumb is that if you enjoyed the Roundhouse then you would enjoy this.
Francis should have introduced the band as we were all wondering who the new guitarist was beside Richie but he was in good humour throughout.
And Paul Hirsch returned on keyboards.
Not sure if the violins for Matchstick Men are programmed through the keyboards ?
I would have loved Jam Side Down to have new included as I think there is slot of affection for it amongst Quo fans .
There was a big nod to Rick with the girls singing All the Reasons.
Lies, HYB and That's a fact were the inclusions from the second album.
Rhino sang Again and Again, Reason for Living and a really grooving version of Rain.
Maybe I would have swapped Reason for Living with Belavista Man as that's one of his own compositions.
Andy sang Don't Drive My Car.
They started sitting down but midway through all stood up ( pardon the pun). Francis' seat was annoying him - I'm not sure if this was why or if the plan was always to sit for the first part of the set then stand.
I prefer them standing as I feel they can perform the show better.
All in all, a very enjoyable night and I'm glad I made the trip.
The venue seems to be attracting big acts- the Beach Boys have played here recently and Texas will be there in September.
Hard to say what the crowd attendance was but it was very well populated for the venue.

Thanks for the interesting report, Cammy. It's probably easier for Andy not having to switch between guitar and keys all the time - plus sing now, plus play the occasional harp. So Having Paul Hirsh return is certainly a relief for him. I don't consider Ralf a band member. He's just an additional musician for the acoustic gigs, same as the backing singers or the strings had been. Whom I find interesting to not be included. Maybe a question of costs or availability for extended acoustic tours ? I hope Nanana hasn't been dropped ?! It was one of the absolute highlights on the first acoustic tour for me. Agree about Balavista Man instead of RFL, but maybe it didn't work with Rhino singing. I'd have expected though, that Andy would sing RFL I must admit .. So when are you leaving for Catalunya, Billy ?

Thanks for taking the time to post that Cammy.
All sounds good and interesting!
I wasn't really a fan of Rain but I greatly enjoyed it in Glasgow at The Royal Concert Hall.
The outro went on a bit with a really bluesy piano piece. Loved that.
Will try and catch it tonight in TV at Glastonbury, if the BBC decide to show it.
