@inna . Hope you have a really good gig. It's hot o'clock all over the UK today!

Sounds like it was a fantastic night out. I'm envious ! Why do they only play the one gig here and that far up north .. (answer to self - might have to do with him having family in the region ?)

@inna . Great report, thanks for posting it. It sounds like you had a great night. I must try to catch RR at the next opportunity. Both you and mortified make it sound too good to miss.

We're going to see Rhino's Revenge and the support band Pure Quo tonight. Temperatures have reached 26° C by now, so I assume the gig will be a hot and sweaty one. This day a year ago, we saw Quo at the Herborn festival, and temperatures had soared up to around 50°C inside the tent-like structure... or so it seemed. It was the last time we saw Rick perform, and what a gig it was. I will never forget it. I think his kids turn nine today... what a very special date May 26th is. I've been thinking of that gig and then looking at the Herborn pictures as well recently. I'm so glad it was such a great gig and that hubby took those pics. And I remember how you merely decided more or less spontaneously to come. So happy for you, that you did. Nothing can take that memory away from us ..

Well, it was a belated "surprise" for our wedding anniversary... I had no idea until the last minute, so to say. And I'm so glad we went. I'll always remember our last-ever gig with Rick. Rhino's Revenge is coming to Dautphe / Hesse, by the way. They'll be headlining the first night at the Rockin' Hinterland Open Air festival on August 11. Support will be She's Got Balls, a ladies' AC/DC tribute band (I have never heard of). I've noticed it before - is it a regional thing to call it Hesse and not Hessen (same as we call our neighbour BaWü) ? Wasn't that the festival Quo were supposed to play last summer, but had to pull out of it, as it was too soon after that fateful Expo gig ?

There's Hesse, and then there's Rhineland-Palatinate, Bavaria, North-Rhine Westphalia and so on. I don't know if Quo were to play Dautphe last year. The Quo online gigography will know all about it. I refuse to change names into something else, just because I'm using another language - at least where native names are concerned .Doesn't make much sense to drop the n from Hessen anyway .

I think Quo were to play Dautphe back in 2014 but couldn't beacause of Rickys heart attack in Pula? Nearly if not all gigs scheduled for last year went ahead as planned, so it must've been 2014 i think.

I merely remembered the cancellation and that it was due to one of Rick's heart problems as we had thought about attending.

The 2014 shows in Pula 2.8., Monte Carlo 4.8., Schaffhausen 6.8., Biel 7.8., Tettnang 9.8. and Dautphe 10.8. were cancelled.

I remember how some had their knickers in a twist about it, while others explicitly went to see him play with Quo. So it must've been his first electric gigs with the band. In hindsight I can't help but think that the second FF tour was a mistake. I know I loved it and merely worried about Alan, but maybe it was too demanding for Rick's already damaged health - the straw that broke the camels back .. We'll never know

I think Freddie's first electric gig was at Holkham Hall in Norfolk. Can't remember precisely when that was though.
We'd seen them at that lovely venue before when we stayed in Wales and toyed with going again but it's a ridiculously long way from Scotland. Especially on our broken and congested motorways.
So we've never seen Freddie play an electric gig with the band. Don't suppose we ever will now.

What was the reason for him stepping in for one gig (and when) ? At least we did see him play with the FR solo band (there's a difference ) (no comment on your motorways .. )

I'm presuming after the whole Pula/Monte Carlo thing. But I am guessing. Rick had that many scares I've lost track Although we'll always remember the last one

Rick had that many scares I've lost track Although we'll always remember the last one So it would've indeed been during that time, just not soon enough for the cancelled gigs like Dautphe. Well, some rehearsing on his part will have been necessary, even if he already knew some Quo songs from playing with Francis .. And then there were the acoustic gigs. After the last ones without Rick - and without Freddie - I tend to think that Freddie was kind of a backup for Rick and without Rick, we won't see Freddie play with Quo again acoustically either. Looking forward to your report from Barcelona. Not long to go now (wish I was going too ..).
