I'd be interested to hear the songs mentioned but I doubt I'll be buying these.
I'd seen the day where I would have certainly have bought this but not now.
I'd rather have something brand new that I've never heard before.
An album by the band, one by Rick or by Francis. Just something new. Please.

I can't see there being much, if anything, from the present band. They haven't recorded an album of new material for 4 years in which time we've had two "acoustic" albums of old material (including a couple of underwhelming new songs). I think we might yet get Rick's album. I'm pretty sure someone is putting the finishing touches to that. Francis's solo album(s) I have no idea about. Time has run out now for this year by the looks. So old stuff for old people it is

Just had a look at the homepage and those album covers really are iconic.
Think I might actually buy them now that I've seen the full track listing.

I'm keeping my money in my pocket. I've only brought the RAOTW remix as the other previous deluxe editions have poor quality live material on the bonus discs.

....other previous deluxe editions have poor quality live material on the bonus discs. I tend to agree with that. I'd have thought 21st century technology and a good engineer would have cleaned up and improved almost any original recording. I don't get the impression much time was spent on the Australian stuff. Although I'm certainly no expert. Maybe its the best they could make it. One of the problems is that the Quo set has changed so little over two millennia that we get the same songs over and over again whether its 1974 or 2014! Only the odd one like Rock And Roll helps sweeten the medicine. I'd love to hear things like Mad About The Boy, I Saw The Light, Nightride, Rockers Rollin' and Oh What A Night! for example . Songs that stayed in the set for an entire tour. However, having collected Quo stuff for over 4 decades I find it hard NOT to grab things like this. Or pretty much anything else.

There's only so much you can do with a recording that has not much fidelity to begin with.... However the new remasters of the main albums have been very good so far, better than the 2005 ones.

That's actually a very good piece. Accurate and informative for a change. Nice one. I looked at the Never Too Late release on Saturday in a music shop when I was wandering round Edinburgh. It was the only one of the three they had. I'll certainly buy them but I'll get them online at £12.99 each instead of the £20.00 they were offering it at in the shop. I never knew that Honky Tonk Angel was a working title for Wild Side Of Life - although I should have worked that one out! The live material on these deluxe editions, I agree, has been of poor quality so far and it doesn't sound like it's getting any better. Which is a shame. But I can't turn down a live recording of Rock And Roll no matter how poor the sound.

Well written, as always - and I share your sentiments. Just one thing - your remark about '80 "Quo, for the first time in their career, didn't tour in 1980. A German and French tour were scheduled for February/March respectively, but these shows were cancelled after Parfitt, who was suffering from a spinal complaint, was ordered by Doctors to have a rest for three months" reminded me that it was sold to us differently. The band did play the San Remo festival in '80 and when interviewed by our biggest teenage magazine there pretended Rick had a knee injury from playing football and that had been the reason they had to cancel the tour. The next year in another interview the band admitted that it had all been a lie and that they simply didn't want to tour as they had felt burnt out. I still have both excerpts ..

There have always been conflicting reports about 1980. The standard one was that they wanted to see if they could still have a hit album without going out and promoting it. They did; despite Geoff Barton in Sounds giving it one star. Knob. I saw them live in May 1979 and then not again until early 1981. March I think. Never Too Late had just come out. So it was almost a 2-year gap. So I remember being particularly excited about the '81 tour I had no set list issues in those days because there was such a gap between gigs; at least a year each time with only a fading memory of the previous gig to go on. I rarely ever saw them in the summer. No live stuff or videos to fall back on. But when I look at the set list now it is quite startling how static it's been for a very long time with many of the same songs being played for nigh on 40 years.
