Quo have played Russia a few times over the last 20 or so years and they seem to be going to a lot of different places on the LNOE tour, but not Russia.
Do you think its down to the comment Fran made about Russia on TV?

Very much doubt that - or do you think Putin and the KGB (or whatever it's called these days) are checking out interviews from all artists ever to visit the country ? Hm, they may well do .. in that case Francis should better stay away ..

I was thinking more along the lines of there are clips of it on youtube and with the power of the internet there may not be so much interest there now.
But there is a possibility from your angle as well.

I haven't heard what he said. But didn't they get stranded in Moscow or something for ages because of the volcanic dust cloud? He would have to have left the bus and mingled. Never his thing really

Never his thing really He did say something like Russia was ugly and depressing - and a lot of Russians actually agreed with him in comments I saw at the time. They're not naive and I doubt that would keep people from attending gigs. And yep, they had to stay in Moscow for longer than planned although I don't think it was due to volcanic ash (that was what nearly kept us from reaching the gig in Edinburgh in May 2010 - and getting back home again !). Didn't they do a pope then when finally reaching München ?

craydarr , I'm not too sure how it works really. Do the management contact promoters to gauge the likelihood of playing countries or is it vice-versa? I remember reading how popular the In The Army Now single was in the old USSR/old Eastern Bloc countries and as the band haven't exactly been regular visitors to Eastern Europe, I'd have thought the demand may still have been there. They haven't overplayed there, have they? Perhaps Francis has stated that he didn't want to go back as he wasn't that fond of the place the last time that the band were there?

It was indeed at the time though, that they played those 12 nights in Moskow, the first big western act to do that and why all 12 nights were sold out. And why the audience reaction was somewhat strange ..

There is a show on youtube from the 90's where they are playing a big ole stadium, I believe (I may be wrong) the In The Army was a massive song there so that may be why the had big audiences.
I can also remember Fran saying they don't get paid alot there compared to everywhere else. That could also be another reason why they aren't playing there.

I think its the promoters contact the management, as the recent press releases regarding the extended LOTE Tour states. As I have put in my post I think you are right Army was a massive single.
Maybe they will add a date there, who knows.

It was on a tv show called Loose Women , the band had been stranded in Russia because of the ash cloud, they asked him why he was glad to be out of the country and he effectively said it was there😁😁 Typical Frame subtlety 🙂

Definitely played it that night.

Quo sets being what they are and have always been Funnily enough, I remember Wagner. Not sure what that says Maybe the brain cells are diminishing. Well, there's no maybe about it Paul Rodgers supported. I remember that clearly so I was definitely there! But I am pi$$ed off at having no memory of the song(s). I need a time machine. Oh, and a shapely assistant

Right, col . You've got me wondering about this so I had a look for the setlist for that tour - presumably in support of the compilation. I'm concerned about my sanity and possible ongoing fight with dementia. I found it and Come Rock With Me/Rockin' On isn't listed. Funnily enough, Rock And Roll is and I have no recollection of that either Get Out Of Denver seems to have been in and that rings a bell as a leftover from the previous year. This is a weird one. We're both usually pretty sharp on these things - to the point of being particularly sad Unusual inclusions in the set like this have been so rare they tend to stick out in the memory. It's a worry! For at least one of us

For at least one of us I've done some digging, and it's listed on the Don't Stop Tour, so that would have been December '95, so I apologise if it's the wrong tour, but definitely played.

Yeah, I can see it listed as Come Rock With Me/Roadhouse Blues. I guess it depends which setlist site you look at. Still don't remember it though Another odd thing that cropped up while I was checking this out which has tested my memory bank is the date of the Don't Stop gig in Glasgow; December 1995. Yet the album didn't come out till February 1996. And I was convinced that I knew all of the new cover versions they played at the time. Evidently not! Funny thing memory. Although it's not making me laugh at the minute

Yup, Don't Stop had nothing played from Don't Stop.
The Don't Stop tracks were performed on the Can't Stop Tour, are you following at the back?
The Don't Stop Tour programme stated on of the songs Quo had recorded for the Don't Stop album would be Reg Dwight's' Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting.
Wonder when that will see the light of day.
