I dunno who done this, but whoever it was did a bloody fine job on it, so very well done indeed MAGNIFICENT. I know he's not everyone's favourite drummer but I thought Pete was a great "live" drummer and he drummed his socks off that day. I thought that he was fantastic. I didn't notice it on the day as I was too far back but when the video came out and I watched it, I thought Rick looked really sad throughout some of the performance. And for the avoidance of any doubt, I mean sad as in unhappy as opposed to unfortunate/inadequate.

I assume you mean watered down live, as in shortened, as the Rock till you Drop version is a damned good version?

So proper Quo includes Andy Brown in your definition?

Brilliant! Great version of a Great song! My question is this... What has this been "Re-mastered" from? The picture quality looks superb. Last I heard, the master tapes from 1984 had been destroyed... Has this been Re-mastered using the original video?

Was done using the VHS tapes I don't get why Quo said around the time of Hello Quo that the tapes were destroyed cause as far as i know, the band don't know what footage they actually have and they're currently trying to find it with the help of Bob Young... cause they also don't know where the tapes are or who owns the rights

All very interesting! If there are so many "Don't Knows", it may well be that the original footage may yet survive and be unearthed. It would be lovely to see it restored and re-released, especially if the bits chopped out could be re-instated for a DVD release. Here's hoping!

So proper Quo includes Andy Brown in your definition? Correct as he was there from very early on in their career. But he wasn't part of the Frantic Four, which some believe is the only line up. Just goes to show, what constitutes SQ, is a broad church

I'm with ive on this re the master tapes. I cannot recall where I read this but I read that the master tapes had been lost because they were being stored in a building that had been burnt down. Going by the above video, I'd love to see that concert remastered and re-released.

I asked Alan Parker if we could expect anything unseen from the Milton Keynes gig on the documentary and he mentioned they had been burned in a warehouse fire back in the early '90s and he had to use either a laser disc copy or a vhs to DVD transfer. Initial thought would be... If they found the edited masters why didn't he use those? I know that they don't know where the tapes are and that they are clueless to who owns the rights because I'm in contact with Steve Hammond who works on Quo's releases pretty much....

I assume, when Francis moved houses a few years ago it was when they rediscovered the RAOTW tapes. They may well have found a lot more stuff on that occasion. only they've kept quiet about it so far, till the condition of the stuff has been checked and/or they've decided what to do with it. I remember not that long ago John Eden mentioned on here that he was considering remixing JS and NTL next. Maybe those were tapes that had been retrieved as well ? Could be a lot more for all we know. There's a lot of space in an attic, even while part of it was the studio ..

That Over The Edge is a real neck mover. Forgotten how much I like that. Great to see these snippets of footage. Takes most of us right back to that warm, sunny July day. And the what seemed like endless travel! And seeing Rick at the start of Forty Five Hundred Times brings it home to me (again) what we'll all miss. Just stunning. And, of course, we won't hear it live again. How can we now? The greatest song ever recorded never to be played live again by the band that recorded it. Quite sad really.

Absolutely fantastic stuff! Can you please put me down for a copy as well, when it's released?! I remember on my VHS tape there's a drag on the original master tape during Wild Side of Life (I think!), where the picture stops with Francis doing a really bad gurn!

I can't wait to see the finished result, I really can't but just a word of warning, I would be very wary of possible copyright issues/infringements, but I'm sure you will have already thought of that. I shall be very careful with those possible issues

Rick RoperThe original VHS releases have a brown tint on them and are a bit over saturated at certain points and lacking colour at other points... I've colour corrected, white balanced it so it's not to bright at any points... the slight blueish tint help bring out colours without having to boost the saturation. It's also in 60fps compared to the original 25fps... If you watch it side by side with the original, you'll notice how much smoother it looks

Now, if only the missing bits which were chopped out of the original release could be found and spliced back in somehow...! Seriously, brilliant work you've done on this, I too can't wait for its release - I'll have a couple of copies, I have a mate who was there with me in the crowd, and I know he'd love to see it again - He never had a video recorder / player back in the day!

Brilliant stuff. A labour of love. They should just give you the tapes and let you get on with it. For a small fee of course.
