THe wishes of Ricks family friends and himself to have a quiet family funeral..think of his children too they do not need any more stress...please don't attend the crematorium and turn his goodbye into a circus...let him rest peacefully....there will be a time and place to show your respect...hopefully a memorial...IF not....you know the day...raise a glass...play his music...and say a few words in your own homes
our thoughts are with the family and friends...everyone knows Quo fans are a great supportive bunch (most of them😉)

You just know there'll be a couple of selfish idiots thinking they have a God given right to go...... I pray I'm wrong. More respectful staying away.

I see that FTMO have urged fans not to attend on Thursday but I'm concerned that this request will fall on (some) deaf ears.
Unfortunately, I fear some will feel it is their "right" to attend and will try to do so and ignore the feelings of Rick's family and friends.

How so very sad that some people appear to be intent on turning up where they are not wanted...and not invited This could cause terrible trauma to his younger children
Caused by adults that are supposedly sensible
Grow up please...let the family alone
One day it will be your funeral...think on...

Yes they are still going on about it on FB saying how they have supported the band for so long and they HAVE to be there to say goodbye. No they don't it's private, I am expecting security will now be employed to keep people away and should they turn up they will be moved on very quickly.

Funeral for family only, thats what we all would want. Respect that
If there is a memorial service for Rick that fans are allowed to attend, with enough notice, I think a lot of us would love to go to pay our respects..

As a fan you have NO god given right to attend Ricks funeral the family have asked for this to be a private service and there wishes should be respected to the very last letter. I am glad that they have let us know when the service is though so we can say a final farewell in our own way i shall be thinking of his family and the band and lighting a candle at my local church i will also play Quo all day long and raise a glass to the great man. I would never dream of attending the service we do not know them personally only as our heros so anybody thinking of attending without an invitation i would ask you to think again it's not clever and would only upset the family and band on what will be a hard enough day as it is so please stay away.
But again thanks for letting us know when it will be. God bless his family and children Hare Krishna xx

I won't be told how to grieve, I won't be at the funeral but I will be on the streets to pay my respect as the hearse goes by. There is nothing wrong with that I won't be intruding I HAVE to do this. They are just being selfish arses who will no doubt take pictures of the funeral cortage and post it to FB.

Sadly Lord Flashheart just the fact that a famous person will be being laid to rest will bring out the glory hunters and the press but the REAL Quo fans should play no part in it we have been asked to grieve privately and that is what WE REAL QUO FANS will be doing. All we can do is try and dissuade people on fp and the message board from doing these things.

having read what I have from all over the place, I dare not add my thoughts as I would be damned to hell. I was asked by a fellow quo fan to go to woking on thurs but I cant due to something else in my diary. I`ll leave it at that i think.

The next thing will be where his ashes are scattered. I expect they will be placed with Heidi her grave is somewhere near where Rick used to live. I do hope fans don't start turning it into a shrine as that would be very wrong.

I will proudly wear a Quo t shirt all day on Thursday and raise a glass to the great man, who was part of a band that was the staple of my life from 1972.

ANYONE that goes anywhere near the funeral, will be the scum of the earth to me, and I will relish telling them so too, obviously they think they are above the familiies wishes, no REAL Quo fan will go anywhere near it, end of you can add whatever thoughts you want Loz they maybe thoughts some don't agree with or agree with but you can add them this is a democratic message board. I take it that you would like to go to Woking on Thursday if your diary had a window in it though, even though Rick's family have asked people not to. Personally i don't go to partys i haven't been invited to let alone ones i've been asked to stay away from. But nobodys telling anybody what to do but if they want to pay Rick any kind of respect at all they will stay away. Francis the rest of the band nore his family are going to think very fondly of people breaking there wishes (my very own opinion of cause) But if you have no respect at all and think of no one but yourself then do what you like.

THE REAL QUO FANS. .......wondered when that would surface. ..... tell me what is a real Quo fan then........ Ones who show respect and respect the families wishes sorry that was hard for you to understand Well like many on here i have every album and single the band have ever made plus lots of swag and a hundred plus gigs i have met them a few times but don't think they're my mates so i would consider myself a real Quo fan( have been for fourty years this year) But i would love to hear your definition old chap. Also like Ive said Ones who show respect and respect the families wishes at this terrible time.......... So please do tell what was so hard to understand?

I'm struggling to understand the mindset of those fans who are planning to go to Woking on Thursday. We've been told that it's a private ceremony, FTMO have requested fans not to attend and yet there appears to be some who feel that these requests do not apply to them? Why do they think they are so special? I like the suggestion by kursaal75. Why do we not all wear a Quo t-shirt on Thursday?

As most have said, it will be a disgrace if anyone goes. I suspect 99% will honour the family's request, but you just know there are insensitive idiots who will go. I don't live far and could easily get there, but won't.
I will wear a quo t shirt, get some beers, and play quo all evening.

I keep being told that people are not going to the funeral but what is the harm in going and paying your respects by the roadside. Well it's because it's a private funeral not a public event. Though it seems some just don't see where we are coming from. Obviously some feel they are special cases and will openly ignore the fact that management have said its a private family matter plus the FTMO asking folk to stay away, which includes outside, therefore showing to all their total lack of decency & respect, which says a lot about them as a person. Funny thing is when I pointed this out to a few on Fb & elsewhere yesterday they all reported my posts lol, the acts of true cowards who can't handle the truth about themselves being stated and exposed for all to see,, and I'm well used to dealing with cowards, most cowards resort to having to hide LMAO It's all about saying 'I was there' ... totally selfish attitude...when you lose a loved one (andbelieve I know) you hope your relatives and close friends will be there for support but you certainly don't want 'rubberneckers' making it all about them as if they were Ricks best buddies...if they were they would have been invited! I find this very embarrassing behaviour and don't want to be thought of as one of those fans. Rick was a great entertainer but off stage he was a dad...for goodness sake leave this idea alone and stay home

The most respectful thing would be to delete this topic altogether and to quietly remember and reflect on the many years of wonderful Quo memories Rick gave us all.
