I completely understand the family and close friends have seen Rick off in a private ceremony...as it should be with no media circus but do we think there will be a memorial service for him in the near future...I really hope so....he deserves that

I'd be surprised if there wasn't.
I'd imagine there's many who would like to pay their respects at a service like this.
How would they organise something like this?
Doubt if there's a church big enough.

I think we'd all like a memorial service or some kind of tribute to Rick. But how, where, when etc..... A massive undertaking. How do you even start ?

I was thinking it would be more of showbiz attending ... showing their respect for Rick ... like others passed...private family funeral then 'showbiz' family to remember the times spent in his company where public can attend if want

The term memorial service all sounds a bit religious to me. And you tend not to get those occasions for fans anyway. I can't recall one in the past. For anyone.
For me personally, I would just like there to be a plaque or something. Somewhere I could go in my own time just to say "Hello!" and to reflect quietly on 40 odd years of great fun and magnificent music. As this is a crematorium service on Thursday there obviously won't be a grave but sometimes there will be something in a garden of rest. But sometimes not. Just have to wait and see.

I think (due to the nbr that would wish to attend) it would need to be in the form of a concert at somewhere like Wembley,, just my opinion. I agree Freddie Mercury had Wembley Stadium. Ok maybe Rick would not fill there but Wembley Arena or the NEC yes.

Ok maybe Rick would not fill there but Wembley Arena or the NEC yes. Few people would fill the stadium but an arena gig would be perfect. Besides rock royalty wanting to pay their respects by either singing or playing a Rick or Quo song I would hope that all former members would be there to contribute too, despite the number of drum kits required. I would love to see JC and Alan back on stage with the present line up and I'd be delighted if Pete Kircher could be persuaded back into the limelight one last time.

I'd not call something like that a memorial service, but it would definitely be a good idea. The Quo army would make it something special.

So what would you call a memorial service ?, some religious based rubbish perhaps ? Indeed - service is something connected with a church for me. Call it memorial gig, celebration of Rick's music and life or whatever, but leave out the word service IMVHO.

Ah ok, well anything to do with a church is of no interest to me at all, I don't believe in fairy tales, which is (IMVHO) what religion is, no offence intended. Why does a celebration of Ricks life have to be connected to a church ?, why does it have to be a religious event ? Who says it has to ? I haven't read anything about it having to be a religious occasion so far .. (can't comment on fb though).
