Blackpool was fabulous, it made up for the sticking weather whilst queuing up outside! Rain, hail, sun, cold. But in true Quo fan fashion we all huddled together lol. The set list was as follows, Caroline, Wanderer, Something about you, Rain, Little Lady, Burning Bridges (was fab with the springy dance floor) Just got carried along! Beginning of the end, What your proposing medley,Oriental, Creeping up on you, Gerdundula (with Leon up front) Army, Roll me over, Paper Plane,Love me babe, Rock and Roll music, Bye Bye Johnny I think Ive got it all there. The support was a band called Strapped for cash lol, Good guitarists, singers voice got a little lost in the huge hall, but great tunes, they did one of my all time favourites Rocky Mountain Way, The Eagles, saw them perform it a couple of years ago. Was very lucky as now Glen Fry has passed away, tragic. I love Quo, as you all know they give a fabulous show. They all seemed up for it last night, probably after the winters break? Francis told us all that he'd had eye surgery, so he could see us all now. It was nice to see him without his glasses too Cant wait for December now. It will be a sorry day for me when the band retire, which I hope they don't do anytime soon

My ramblings on the gig as promised:
Firstly, I'd forgotten how good a venue the Empress Ballroom is. Nice that the Winter Gardens as a whole was closed for the gig, meant you could wander in and out to the bar/loo without having to show your ticket etc. Also meant that unusually I saw a bit of the support band, sounded ok, just lacked the 'oomph' to fill the venue.
Then on came Quo - despite seeing them 100+ times the hairs on the back of my neck still stand on end when the drone/Caroline kick in. I'll defend Quo as much as anyone but the set list is taking the proverbial now, any other band and I'd have stopped going years ago now due to the lack of changes. I don't know if it was exactly the same as December (I don't pay that much attention) but it felt nigh on identical. Certainly there was no 4500x/Backwater/Runaway/Mystery Song to inject some life into it.
Regardless, there were still some stand out songs for me, Caroline, Burning Bridges, Little Lady and Down Down all felt as fresh as the day I first heard them.
Band members seemed on good form and as always were note perfect. (Some say that's boring, I just think it's professional).
** Rant Warning ** - I find it very hard to associate with Quo 'fans' who turn up wearing a denim jacket covered in Quo badges, rabbit on in the bar about seeing them 750 times, starting in 1914 and then stand there completely motionless during the gig.
In summary, it was a typical Quo gig, i.e. it was fab. Roll on Leeds in December.

How anybody could describe Burning Bridges as a stand out song is beyond me. Its a load of old guff.

I thought band was on top form . Large crowd seemed happy.
Just glad to watch the last full year of Quo.
Francis used his old Tele in one song last night following a refurbishment, although now a natural wood colour !
I was on balcony at front on Ricks side , perfect sound.
Good to see the band enjoying the gig.
Will now book some summer shows

Interesting that the old Tele returned. Be interesting to know what was done to it.

So, the same old boring set list. In my view the worst set list ever ! However this gig was still part of the "accept no substitute" tour. So hopefully the set list for the "final electric" tour might, just might change ! I won't be holding my breath !!

This is a no win situation for them...... if they change the set drastically then people will be asking why they didn't do this years ago.......... if its the same(ish) setlist people will moan(as they already do)........

Going by the new FTMO issue, they obviously seem to think we loved the set last winter .. Oh well, we knew they'd not change it for the summer gigs, but reading this my hopes for winter changes have dropped drastically.
WE NEED A MIRACLE !!

I think the same as tramper, I hope that the last electric gig will have a changed set list, I am honestly just happy that Quo are still touring. They are a fabulous band, great fun to watch and always have been in my very humble opinion. As the saying goes "you can't please all of the people all of the time" Im sure most of the people went away happy on Thursday night, I know I did! Might get another sneaky gig in before December! Quo are welcome in Lancashire any day
