I have seen it suggested that maybe Rick's unreleased solo album be overhauled and released as a tribute. Though what to do with it? Could the vocals and guitar be stripped off some tracks and start again with backing from Alan and John. Some tracks remastered with Jeff and Rhino plus get Francis to record some solos. I suppose there would be some Vocal only tracks in the vault what to do with these. Would it be ok for Richie to add Rhythm to them? I like the idea of every member of Quo being on a tribute album to Rick with his vocals and guitar. A bit like Made In Heaven by Queen though would it be possible I don't know. It would be a good tribute though.

It was me who suggested that in the "other place" and it should be easy to keep Rick's vocals and any guitar he recorded on the masters and then simply add new backing to that, even easier with modern tech, but I think it's important that all former members would be involved and not just segregated into FF and CQ but a true mixture, I believe such a thing would also get Pete Kircher behind the drums for the first time in 8 years and I also think some involvement by Richie is important, it's not like Rick didn't know him or rate him as a guitarist

We know, Quo did it with Tongue Tied - use the vocals from the demo for the final version. So I'm sure that should any vocals exist already, they could be used in a similar way. I'd be very much against it being called anything that would sound like a tribute to Rick. Call me cynical, but IMO all these tribute albums are merely meant to sell well and generate money for those contributors still very much alive. This one sure would sell well too - after all we all know that death always sells - but do we really want people to buy an album because of that ?
Maybe RPJ would want to record part of them ? It should be down to the quality of music though and for which type of album the songs are suited and they should not be used from any current or past band member to generate public interest (read money) under the disguise of a tribute IMVHO.

I'd be interested to hear an album but as above, I'm not keen on the tribute tag. I'd rather opt for a "celebration" which may amount to the same thing and may sound a bit trite but "tribute" just sounds too final to me.
Perhaps the band could record versions of Rick's favourite songs with guests performing too?
I don't know what the best course would be but I'd like a record of some sort I think.

I think Queen got it right with Made In Heaven though. It's a good album yes it is a tribute but it's a nicely balanced album with good tracks. You Don't Fool Me is a particular favorite. It's nothing about Freddies death it's just a good Queen track.

Yep, the album speaking for itself through the quality of its content and not merely selling because of its tribute name would be the only option worth following through. It would have to be done very cautiously though and mainly concentrate on the material, not the personnel whether alive or not. smokie - Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but IMO Rick's favourites sung by others wouldn't have any merit other than commercial. This x featuring y thing or 'sing my song' formate on the telly isn't anything but the current flavour of the time money making concept. At the core of it they're covers albums named differently and more often than not hits covers albums.

I know that wasn't the best of suggestions but I couldn't think of anything else really.
Ideally, I'd like something that involved everyone, or at least everyone that wanted to be associated with it.
I've heard Recorded Delivery and don't think it's that great and I have my doubts if it would sound any better if it was re-recorded/mixed with the band/Alan/John

If Recorded Delivery became Re-recorded Delivery with all past and present members taking part with bonus tracks of any unfinished or unused tracks from the Quo/Parfitt archive then surely there is no reason why ALL royalties could either go to Rick's family as a financial boost or a charity such as Nordoff Robins that he was known to support, I'm sure nobody would expect to be paid or get royalties from taking part in such a project.
