I love that stuff and it is fantastic, but why does it have to be better?
Why can't people enjoy both for different reasons? 👍

The word 'better' should be banned on all music based forums.
What's better, Yesterday or Imagine? Who's better, Queen or Led Zep? What's better, E sharp or D minor?
The answer? All stupid questions.
Music cannot be measured, it's a personal thing. More to the point it never should be measured.
(Love the videos BTW).

Rick was on fire at the FF gigs. However I have noticed he slowed down a bit when back on tour with the band in 2014/2015. I think that 2014 heart attack did more damage to him than he let on. He was deffinatly not the same and I don't think that's down to indiference about the set/band, as the 2013 summer/autum gigs were fine.
Richie is on a hiding to nothing and has done a good job in an impossible situation. Of course he does not compare with Rick when he was firing on all cylinders but he has been lacking something since late 2014.

Richie is on a hiding to nothing and has done a good job in an impossible situation. Of course he does not compare with Rick when he was firing on all cylinders but he has been lacking something since late 2014. I havent seen one post/comment anywhere saying any different, & of course he is doing a fine job replacing the truly irreplaceable,, I did however see a comment (elsewhere) last night where he was called,,, a legend!!,, a comment made by a typical FRQ/FR fan who wont allow a different opinion, so when I (and others) stepped in to debate the point, of course, all hell broke loose and many dummys were well n truly spat out Going by the new tour log, the band had noticed it too and Rick had only shortly before this last attack improved again. Well, Rick isn't a machine and yep, that heartattack in 2014 must've had an impact, even when he talked it down. That leads me to the thought that maybe Francis wanted to stop for Rick's sake ? (I know, you'd never see anything positive in him, Ive, so no need to repeat that ..) But Francis does care - else he'd not have sprinted to Rick's room with Rhino - and usually puts his own plans back for the sake of the band. And to go back to the original question: Backwater/JTM are played stunningly good by both F+R. 4500x is better than in 2013, but there are lots of better versions out there and by many different incarnations of the band. The cover that is BBJ has been a skip for me right from OTL. And they didn't even play it in full on the reunion tours .. So yep, lots of stuff from the current band I like just as much or even more than some of this at least. Example ? I love this one to bits  :

Ive, I don't think I agreed with everything of the above, did I? That's why I posted my opinion about the things you quoted. :ignore: I agree with a lot of things you say in your latest reply to me, that's why I said what I did, but I have to disagree with what you said about the recent gigs - the sound was not empty or meaningless or half-ar$ed. I was there, I heard and saw them play, and you know I was very reluctant about going to the gigs at all. I'm not sure Rick should have left when Alan did. I'd have to ask Rick how he thinks about what happened all those years ago. I, for one, wasn't there anymore anyway when they packed it in in '84... Rick might have gone with Alan if the Record Company would have accepted Quo without Francis they didn't. Francis was happy to go solo but for some reason both his and Rick's 1985 solo albums were never released. Rick's was odd because the record company had spent a lot of money on it. Granted not all of it went on recording (sniff). Rick was flat broke and going back to Quo (Which Francis didn't really want) was the only option. I have never believed that it was all a grand plan of Francis to kick everyone out of the band. It's just the way it was I honestly think if Live Aid had not happened we would have had a few years of solo albums (with poor sales) then the original band would have regrouped in the late 80's early 90's. Though I don't think they would have lasted till now as the old musical differences would have resurfaced. Though most probably we would have have had a few years of PLC. Though I'm afraid they probably would have been a bit like how Slade now are without Noddy. Doing quite well on the nostalgia circuit but not in the public eye very much.
