To get this section under way - what do we expect we'll be talking about on here next year ?
I don't expect a PLC album as such to be honest, just, as recently hinted, a Rick solo album with contributions from others. And While there might be a Parfitt/Lancaster or two, I'd expect it to be mainly made up of Parfitt/Morris tracks with Wayne playing lead on them and Rick singing.
Obviously the Rossi/Rickard album will be due out in spring and I admit I'm very much looking forward to it. It'll be really interesting to see, what he comes up with when writing with and for a young girl like Hannah. So I'm waiting in anticipation, even if that means his solo album is pushed back once again and till autumn at least.
There will be a tour by Rhino in spring but no new material to promte has been mentioned so far ..
So that's albums by Rick and Francis and a tour from Rhino IMO.

Ideally, I'd like as many solo releases as possible but I'm not sure how many we'll actually get.
The one that Francis has "in the can", is that the one he's written with Hannah R, or, is that the one that has an electric version of Is Someone Rocking Your Heart? Either way, I look forward to hearing either and hopefully seeing a solo tour too.
I'd love to hear a Rick solo album and really hope that it does happen. It's been talked about so often in the past but this time I hope it is released. Although exciting, I thought the whole PLC thing sounded a bit hopeful/too far fetched. I thought it would be similar to Rhino's Revenge mk1 in the way that Francis, Rick, etc guested on that one. Hopefully, Alan and John will make an appearance on it. Can't see there ever being any live shows though as I think Rick is uninsurable these days for a tour and I don't know how well Alan is either.
Would think it unlikely to hear anything new from Andy and I presume Rhino will just continue to do his thing with his band when time permits.

Concerning Francis - both: He signed the treaty for his 3rd solo album about 3 years ago already, so at least part of the songs he must've had ready for a long time. He has been working on it since - as well as putting it back repeatedly. No idea if it's completely finished for release or if minor parts are still missing though. The album with Hannah Rickard obviously is a newer project, that merely started to take shape in the wake of the A2 recording sessions. It does come across as having priority for him over his solo stuff now, as a release date for it for next April/May has been mentioned various times already. Agree about Andy. He's the oldest out of the bunch and after his last solo album he came across in interviews as if that had been kind of a last thing that needed to be done for him to be content with his musical career.

Andy has mentioned in passing maybe getting his old solo albums re-released. But he's not 100% sure it would be worth the effort. It would for me! There seem to be quite a few Quo dates being announced so solo projects from those still touring might be put back here and there. Rick's solo album has been touted for a long time. I remember talking to Mike Hrano about it years ago and he said he'd pushed Rick for ages, got plenty positive vibes but ultimately nothing ever happened. This is different though. Rick basically has nothing much else to do, musically at least, so it is probably more of a goer now. I do hope so. By this time next year - if we're still on here - I reckon we'll be talking mainly about recent Aquostic gigs and very possibly Rick and Francis's solo efforts. Rhino will have fitted in small gigs here and there, basically just enjoying himself with his family. I don't expect to like the album Francis is making with Hannah Rickard but I won't dismiss it out of hand without hearing it. I actually don't in my heart of hearts expect to like Rick's album all that much either. But I did like Rick's contributions to the Bula Quo album so maybe I should be more optimistic.

Well I'm sure whatever sort of album Rossi churns out, it will meet with your'e full approval, regardless of content,,even an album of yodelling :-/ I can't stand yodeling .. .. but yep, otherwise I am looking forward to both albums.

my project today is jetwashing the deckin We've been thinking of that (coz its a bit of a mossy mess) but we have hedgehogs under there so we're maybe going to scrub it carefully by hand. Covering it with fresh decking oil will be a challenge. Could be a long summer!

Don't think I'll be going far on my holidays this year Once you're relaxing in your new bathroom, it'll feel like a wellness holiday - so no need for one elsewhere .. .

Andy has mentioned in passing maybe getting his old solo albums re-released. But he's not 100% sure it would be worth the effort. It would for me! I mentioned that to Steve Hammonds, also pointing out they could be put into a smart 3CD package but apparently the lack of success of Unfinished Business seems to work against that plan...

Its a pity that everything boils down to 'success' in that way. Andy's solo album was always just going to be for a very small niche market. It got very little promotion (or live back up to be fair) and I naively thought it was a labour of love done purely to put his non-Quo songs out there. I'd like to think that sorting out his earlier stuff might be likewise. Then again, making CD's and distributing them wouldn't be cheap so making a loss would be very likely. Downloads would do me!

That's what I thought too. Francis didn't get much more promotion either, but at least he did tour OSAAT and he recorded the gig at St. Lukes. It certainly wasn't a huge commercial success either - it'll have needed a lot more promotion for that - but I assume quite a few more people bought it on the strength of his performance. I didn't buy UB, but I'd have gone to a gig (in reasonable distance) and I'd have bought a video. Somehow these days I prefer videos over live recordings .. It wasn't up that long on the Quo homepage either. You get the feeling Rhino is supporting his RR project much more enthusiastically. Would be nice if Francis' homepage was updated occasionally with the solo projects we can expect for this year ..

So its your fault we're not getting Andy's older stuff, is it? Get Unfinished Business bought. That might just swing it. I think it must depend on an individual's mindset. There are literally hundreds of artists out there recording and releasing music with no chance of selling very much. Because they enjoy doing it! I'd have thought once you hit your 70's you'd just do as you please because you want to - and because you can. So he obviously doesn't want to. Fair enough.

I'd have thought once you hit your 70's you'd just do as you please because you want to - and because you can. So he obviously doesn't want to. Fair enough. Here's Francis' homepage: linkAt the time of the album release it was well maintained with quite a few interesting press cuttings on there plus photos and other stuff. Sadly the only update since has been for his The Chronicles Of Dekaydence contribution with the re-written Burt B. song. Ok, I plead guilty - but the music just didn't do much for me and I didn't like Andy's voice on his songs. Interestingly I really enjoyed his singing the Quo songs on the LNOTE tour though. Not sure Andy doesn't want to. From his rare interviews he comes across as a hesitant kind of guy when it comes to his own stuff. There's a lot of 'maybe I should have ..' type of half-regret. I can't help but think that he is feeling relieved that he doesn't have to do any promotion for Quo. More of the insecure away from the stage and only a bit of the show-off on stage. Maybe F+R became - had to become - the public faces of the band because the others didn't want to ?

After that recent Rhino interview it seems clear there won't be any new stuff from Francis this year. It's maybe better this way, as his and Rick's solo album won't distract from each other in the public eye then. And so there's something in 2018 to look forward to as well .. .

So to update this thread - with nearly half of 2017 history all the solo projects we've had/heard about so far are
- a Rhino's Revenge tour - a Rock Meets Classic announcement that Francis is going to headline in 2018
I'd call that rather meagre ..
