Sorry - this is not for me .. Well of course I wouldn't expect it to be,, Tommy,Address Book,Margie Time would be more to you're liking I'm sure :lolflg: 107 I can't stand Tommy, Margie Time I can take or leave, but you are right about Address Book - I love the song ! .. and I didn't mention Mystery Island up till now, which is the worst ballad Quo ever did, bar none. smilie_hal_086

This Is Me is one of my favourite songs from TPAOY album, think it's great. Love the tune and the lyrics too. I usually like a song that has a story in it, apart from just words, if that makes sense to anyone apart from me!
Of the other songs mentioned, Address Book is the only one I like, really like. Can't stand Tommy's In Love (either version is equally as bad, sorry Tommy) and don't like Marguertia Time either. This was the first SQ song that my Mum, Dad and one of my aunties liked. No way was I a fan of the song after that!

One of Ricks worst ballads imho..... Not one of his best but certainly not one of his worst imvho,, I'd still take his worst over Ok...here we go,from the top of my head songs(ballads) written/cowritten by RP...
Everything All the reasons Lonely man Where I am For you Living on an Island Too close to the ground This is me One by one Mystery Island
I'd still say, even more now that it's one of his worst ballads ever done imho.

I think when it comes to Quo me and snakelady are more or less on the same page. Both Status Quo fans as opposed to mere Rick fans ?!!! Now you've got it !

Have to disagree with you, from the list you put above, Id rate "Everything" as worse than This Is Me He said one of the worst .. That leaves room to include Everything (or Mystery Island) in the 'worst' category as well. 107

By the way, just as an aside, did you know that Rhino wrote the lyrics for This Is Me? He wrote it for and about Rick after that Sunday papers scandal thingy. The melody I think is excellent and very listenable. As slower tracks go its up there as a non-skip song. I can't say fairer than that about any 'ballad' Yeah, like it.

If you check the credits you'll find that Andy and Rhino contributed just as much as Francis (or as near as). And if it's of any consolation for you - I can't stand the album either and the sound of it makes it completely unlistenable thumbs-down-clipart12 .. as opposed to Francis' solo albums.

I love this song to bits, I can personally relate to so much of it I love it too, I think it just about sums up certain parts of Ricks personality.
I always find it strange when people call Quo one dimensional and they all sound the same, if only they would look a little deeper. Shame really ...

How do you explain P.R then ? Consequence of a decade of alcohol and drug abuse ? Again not nearly a solo album though when you look at the credits for songwriting ..

As he has screwed up his personal life, yet gain, the song is very relevant.
No point in making any comparisons with Frame songs. Francis by his own admission has a leaning towards country (and Bob for that matter and let's not forget Caroline was originally written country style) so it's no surprise, that some of the songs some despise, have a country feel to them. Whether they have place is Quo is another debate, but if that was the case, Ballads of Ricks have no place either. I would imagine FR's record collection is more diverse the RP's

Yep....Mr Edwards writes a bit about it in his latest tourlog.
