Good news. I got the vinyl back in the day and the CD re-titled Tex Axile Rides Again (or something like that). Another version won't do any harm.

This thread made me look at Bob's homepage once again. Still not updated .. and he expected the launch of his new site to be at the start of 2015. I wonder what happened ?

This thread made me look at Bob's homepage once again. Still not updated .. and he expected the launch of his new site to be at the start of 2015. I wonder what happened ? Maybe because Bob has been busy or involved in Quo related stuff/projects , such as the reissues, his website has always been informative and a good read though, so I do hope he updates it as soon as he is able to Yep, we know he had been involved in Quo projects, but there has to be something else. Too much time has passed for this to be the only reason. Maybe he's simply tired of updating his blog or the website in general - intervals between blog entries had grown longer and longer before Bob stopped posting it altogether ? Or there are legal issues with starting the new site because of the online shop attached ? All speculation of course ..

It arrived last week. Pretty much everything we've all heard before apart from one track. Even the Down Down writing session was (I think) on the This & That CD that came with the denim covered book in 2006. I haven't directly compared the two though so it might not be.
Its sort of Bob's original album plus a few Young & Moody tracks from their Back For The Last Time Again album (which was pretty good incidentally) and one or two other odds and sods. Well worth getting hold of for the Quo covers alone if you've never heard them.
I particularly like the Young & Moody cover of Caroline. Amazing how that song lends itself to so many different styles - all of them good!

Arrived on Friday, what an album, would recommend to anyone I've ordered it on your recommendation! Although I knew it existed I've not heard any of it, ever!

I got this a couple of days ago. Must admit i had never heard of it before, but some of these versions are REALLY good. Listened to it a few times already and the Quo "covers" (can you cover a song you helped write??) are excellent.
The Down Down 1973 version also a nice artefact!

I've got the first one and I've not listened to it in ages and to be honest, my recollections of it aren't that positive.
However, the rave reviews that it's received here has prompted me to go and order the new one.

I've ordered it on your recommendation! Although I knew it existed I've not heard any of it, ever! so if you don't like it then its my fault huh ?!. I personally think you will love it, or rather, I hope I've got this now....only listened to it once so far. I do like it Ive, thanks for the recommendation. It's quite different from Aquostic in that it's 'very' country. I think there's some good versions on there, some that I really liked after one listen, and some that will hopefully grow on me. I don't think it's better than the 2 Aquostic albums, just very different. I do think that a lot of the people who slag off Aquostic would have still slagged this off too if the current band (with or without Rick) had released it I might comment more in a few days when I've listened to it a few more times. What does anyone else think of it (or the original 10 track version)?

What does anyone else think of it (or the original 10 track version)? Even when it was originally released it received many favourable comments, I like Bob's album, I do not like either of the Aquostic albums,, well maybe ONE track off the 1st album I won't even compare it to either Aquostic albums, they are non comparable to me. I have always been a great admirer of Bob's work, obviously the material he wrote with Mr Rossi in the early days will forever be regarded as classic material, and rightly so.Some of the stuff they've written in the past 15 years I've really liked too. My point about some people who don't like Aquostic liking this.....do you think you would have looked on Bob's country versions of these songs as favourably if Quo had played them and released them instead of Bob? Does that make a difference? My point is; some Quo fans immediately don't like a lot of what Quo do these day because they think (or know) Francis is behind it and they don't like Francis. So they don't give the songs a chance. I know that you do like quite a bit of what Quo have done in the past 30 years Ive, so up until Rick left the band last summer you probably didn't fall into this category. Anyway, that's a different debate. We'll discuss the actual songs more next week when I've listened to the album again.

Personally and I speak only for myself, I liked the initial idea of SQ doing Aquostic, it was the end result that put me off, I still maintain it could have been done so much better, & I DON'T mean if Alan had been there, for example, did they really need an orchestra ?, for me, just the guitars would had been enough, I would likely have enjoyed it. My dislike of Mr Rossi has no relevance on why I do not like Aquostic. I enjoyed Bob's album for what it is, I don't reckon Quo could have recorded an album like that & even if they had have done, I doubt very much I would have enjoyed it. Hope that sorta explains ! Fair enough on your first paragraph. Good answer. Why don't you think you would have enjoyed it if Quo had recorded an album like Bob's?
