Their best album design for me. And the third album in the Holy Trinity I have to confess, I loved it when an album only had 8 tracks or so.

Well you can still turn a Quo album into 8 or 9 tracks these days (using a playlist), you just have more to choose from. My Quid Pro Quo would be Two Way Traffic, Rock n Roll n You, Dust to Gold, Lets Rock, Moving On, Leave a Light on, Frozen Hero, Reality Cheque. I'm sure some people will say you can't get 8 decent tracks from a Quo album these days! Anyways, back to the Quo ablum........

Not one of my favourite SQ albums, out of the 8 songs, there's only 4 that I really like and rest I don't really care for all that much.
Love Fine Fine Fine though

But before downloads I found that CD albums were just getting longer and longer and longer. Quo like everyone else at the mercy of music companies were caught up in that. Having to record 15 or 16 songs when they'd have chucked a good half dozen in the past or used them to back singles. Psych. Rock? What's that all about? ???

I never forget the day I bought this album back in 1980. I only knew the tracks Backwater, Just Take Me and Break The Rules at that time (from the Live-album and 12 Gold Bars). To be short I never regret I spend my birthday money on this brilliant album.

3 very good tracks on it, maybe the most overrated Quo-album.

Great album AND album cover.
Great music too but.....I'm not that fond of the production. Prefer the Piledriver or Hello production.

Great album AND album cover.
Great music too but.....I'm not that fond of the production. Prefer the Piledriver or Hello production. I'm actually with you on that one. The guitars were vastly over-fuzzed on Drifting Away in particular and even on some parts of Slow Train. Spoiling the first a little but not the latter. But I can't fault the material and I'm really just nit-picking. I personally think Piledriver sounds much rawer but who cares? They were all brilliant albums at that time. Funny how you remember where and when you bought albums in those days. Probably because I was still at school, had no money and bought so few albums generally.

I'm with you two on this one, the production is a bit hit and miss with some tracks especially Backwater, there's something about it that just doesn't seem right to me. Slow Train is fine to me though from start to finish...

Slow Train is fine to me though from start to finish... I did have an old Rossi interview from either 75 or 76 where he talks about the production on Quo, and says that for whatever reason they couldn't get the sound right and that they tried to rectify that with On the Level. Personally I love the sound of the album - pure filth. Their first album where Spud's cymbal-thrashing causes your ears to bleed. Good stuff.
