Well, yesterday I was busy chatting with many people and I was so tired... On my way to Klagenfurt now...
Well, as reported elsewhere, there were no big surprises, but the band delivered a solid rocking set, 1h45 Rain was sung by Rhino, ok-ish, but they (deliberately) left out the bass/drum middle bit (where Rick usually swung his Tele). Then Rossi's welcome followed. There was one shout "We miss Rick!" But it was not more, not less. Yes, Rick was missing, but we know the reasons why, and all the better for his health (then again from what we've heard, he seems to be in a low, and a depression in addition to his physical health might be dangerous... hope someone can help him)
Anyway, Richie Malone played well. I think he was received very well, i heard noone complaining after the gig, he delivered his bits. actually I just felt the rhythm guitar could have been louder! Sound otherwise very good.
A few little mistakes (first night) like Rossi forgetting lyrics, PP and DD) or bum notes in Gerdundula by him and Rhino- but they all had a laugh and got extra applause 😁
Again and again by Rhino, liked it better than Rain.... probably because it's one of Rick's signature songs...

Thanks for posting Enjoy Klagenfurt. How many of the dates are you going to?
I wonder if the set will change between now and Liverpool?

What I find utterly depressing is the set list. Not a single surprise song. Not one ..

What I find utterly depressing is the set list. Not a single surprise song. Not one .. yep, that's what I found a bit disappointing, too! Not that Rick isnt there, we knew that long before so I had the chance to somehow get used to it (plus I had already seen them this summer without Rick (Freddie instead), so no really new situation for me, although one could say it's now the final electric tour...). Also that Rhino (and Andy) sing a few of Rick's songs... first and foremost Rain, that was a surprise... but I heard it again yesterday and I thought it was better than in Vienna (maybe the sound mix, the audience, I don't know). Again, I'm not overly enthusiastic about it, but on the other hand personally I don't feel it's a sacrilege either... but at least one surprise, a rare gem, e.g. Spinning Wheel Blues (just comes to my mind because I've been playing that on guitar lately) would have been great.... in the same vein like they have added a snippet of Gotta go Home to 4500x on the 2014 FF tour

It's almost as if they're staying as close as possible to last year's tour hoping the audience won't notice there's a different guitar player and singer on stage. Such a shame and such a missed opportunity. The only reason I can think of is, that next years 'special occasions/gigs' have already been planned and signed and they intend to go ahead with them regardless .. It's the only reason I can imagine why they hadn't planned to film one LOTE gig for posterity this tour: They've planned to film something next year. So how was last night then ?

So how was last night then ? yesterday, personally better than Vienna... partly due to the people around me, and generally the crowd... big hall, sold out, around 5000 I've read... Sound was also a bit better than Vienna ( which already was quite good), and less of the little "mistakes" on the opening night of my way across the border to Switzerland now, will see if I can catch a WiFi in the hotel in Zurich then!

Enjoy ! - And yep, so much depends on the atmosphere - in general and more so the people around/with you. When that is great it can raise a gig from average to really enjoyable.
