I've been a subscriber for years and I was delightfully surprised by the amount of coverage Quo got in the newest issue (though they've been featured relatively often over the years). Francis and Rhino were interviewed. It's a long article so I won't try to transcribe everything (buy it!) but a few points I've picked out:
- One of the three new songs was written by Francis, the other two by Andy. Francis admits to liking a lot of Andy's output
- Aquostic II sounds a bit different and more 'refined', compared to the first album
- Hold You Back now sounds "celtic". They used celtic instruments and Rhino was thinking of Steeleye Span while playing the bass. Since it's got the jiggy element in it anyway, that probably makes sense.
- Rhino played double bass for the first time during the recordings and enjoyed that so much that he now wants to 'properly' learn the instrument. Sounds logical for a guy who started on violin and played bass guitar for most of his career!
- Francis doesn't hate the FF, he just doesn't feel like doing it anymore
- QPQ is now officially an AC/DC album
- Rick was 'more involved' with the album compared to Aquostic I, but he generally isn't that crazy about playing acoustically
- Rick is on the mend and will be 'checked through' in September (maybe happened already? Sorry I haven't read the most recent news on him yet). Francis comments on his lack of self-discipline, but he doesn't sound condescending, rather worried
- Francis' solo album isn't finished, but the plan is to release it May next year. He's written a couple of songs with Hannah Rickard and he thinks he sounds so much better when Hannah and Amy are singing together with him
There's more (e.g. comments from Francis about physical problems and how sitting down on stage is more comfortable for him nowadays) but I think this should be enough for posting on a public forum
Edit: Forgot to mention it's a German magazine
