Again's good alright. Much prefer the marvellous Accident Prone though; high up in my own top X list of Quo singles, that is.
Rain, one of Quo's worst, and Mystery Song should have remained just an album track. Imo.

Talking of Accident Prone, does anyone know anything about the alleged long version of this song that was never released ? Agree in part about Mystery Song being released as a single, the full length album version is better and I don't reckon it should had been edited for a single as it dont do it full justice. Disagree about Rain though, immense song and great single IMHO

Back in the day I didn't like A & A but i think I was being influenced by the fact that all my wee punk and mod mates were already giving me about Quo repetitiveness, and i like it i like it i like it i like it.............. and I didn't want anymore of that. I like it now,,, with volume

I really like Again And Again and I also like the IYCSTH-album.

The verses are really good and energetic and the solo is brilliant, but the chorus was the perfect own goal, giving DJs any reason to ridicule Quo endlessly. I didn't like the song for it and the whole album came as a shock back then. Again And Again charted considerably worse than Accident Prone here and deservedly so, although why they had to hack out a verse for the AP single version I'll never know. The album version isn't that long ..

Disagree about Rain though, immense song and great single IMHO I think part of the long intro of Accident Prone was used as the intro for Whatever You Want. The Mystery Song, arguably my favourite single (by anyone) of all time, as an album track, even better. They would never scale those heights again!!

Definately not one of the best Parfitt-tracks. A bit constrained for me, nonetheless quite enjoyable in the aquostic-version!

Definitely not one of the best Parfitt-tracks. A bit constrained for me, nonetheless quite enjoyable in the aquostic-version! Rick's voice isn't nearly what it once was anymore and that was made very obvious with most acoustic songs. It worked surprisingly well on the acoustic AAA version though. Shame about replacing the solo though ..

Mystery Song and Again And Again were both singles of the week in one of the music papers. "Melody Maker" I think because it was a journo called Caroline Coon who touted them. That was VERY unusual for Quo who were not the music media's friends.
I was never a huge fan of either as singles and thought that the butchering of Mystery Song in particular was criminal. But, to be honest, I was just happy for Quo to get airplay and to see them on TOTP. But the video for Again And Again was poor. I can't even remember if it made an appearance on TOTP. Maybe just the once.
By 1978 punk and new wave were in full flight. As was disco. That was reflected in Quo's singles sales at the time.
A good single but not a great one.

Punk and new wave never were that big here, but disco was - so maybe that's why Accident Prone did better here, especially compared to AAA ?

Gotta say, I think the Aquostic/Roundhouse version is terrific. Not as rocky of course, but I think Rick sings it really well - in the same vein as something like Devil Went Down To Georgia. Rick surely struggled on some tracks, but I think he caught this one just right.

Comparing the original version against the Aquostic version is the same as comparing a top of the range sports car to a clapped out MOT failure,, IN MY OPINION

nonetheless quite enjoyable in the aquostic-version! You can say that you can't stand the acoustic AAA version, but why pick one of the many members who've stated they like it and ridicule his post ? Is it because it's fisherman and that's what you (and many others) used to do on the official mb ? We're not into mobbing on here ..

I must have missed "do not laugh at any other members comments/opinions you may find funny" when I checked the list of rules on here. My humble apologies for this glaring omission on my part,, again!

Comparing the original version against the Aquostic version is the same as comparing a top of the range sports car to a clapped out MOT failure,, IN MY OPINION I would say it was like comparing a sports car with a family car. Both are useful / enjoyable but in their own different ways. Built for different purposes. Are the Aquostic versions made for a different purpose?!?! Still made for enjoyment, but maybe by different people. Put my Dad in a Ferrari and I doubt he'd enjoy it!! Put Lewis Hamilton in an estate car and he'd be well bored!
