I love this track and IMO both versions are equally good.

Don't you just love Rick's choir boy voice here... I was quite young when the album came out, and when I called it my own I often wondered about the meaning of the lyrics. I thought it was tragic that he couldn't find a reason for living and that apparently no-one was there for him... But it was kind of soothing that in the end he knew which way to go. You might wish to wring my neck for saying it, but I really loved the Aquostic version they played live at the Roundhouse.

Brilliant track. Along with Claudie, my two favourites from Hello! And hence in my all time top not-many.

Just how good would a live version sound?
Goosebumps at the very thought.

Just how good would a live version sound? Goosebumps at the very thought. Well, at least we have the Roundhouse version, which I love. That's probably the outstanding factor that made that gig so special and appealing - the set list with all those wonderful and rarely or never before played songs. We'd have certainly loved to hear them in any Quo set and if it had to be acoustic, that was at least better than not at all, even if you weren't into the acoustic stuff too much.

What was interesting about the Roundhouse gig was that almost every song was sung en masse by the crowd. Which indicated to me that these were die-hard fans who knew their stuff because the album hadn't been released yet. Anyway, to the song itself; a classic track from a blinding - and the best - album; by anyone. And don't contradict me In the days when Rick wrote a great lyric. Always wondered if it was Francis who played the slide on this track given that the normal solo immediately follows. Although I appreciate that could be sorted in the studio, even back then. Fabulous.
