Hi there!
Finally we found a forum for Quo followers. And we where amazed that there are so many of you out there that do great versions of Quo songs. Keep it up and keep on rocking!!!
We are 2 guys from Sweden that do covers of Quo songs and call ourselves Studio Quo. And we put in some serious time and effort to try and get it as good as we possibly can. We never studied the songs as thoroughly as we do now before recording. We simply want to find out how on earth they get that "Quo sound". One thing we discovered is, it´s not just the music that makes the groove...it´s the way they sing it to! You have to treat every song with the respect it deserves! When you do, you will get it right. There simply isn´t any easy Quo songs. We´ve been trying for more than 30 years and still discovers new things when start taking a song apart before recording.
So there it is 2 friends and amateurs that don´t have the time to be involved in a band. So why not enjoy Quo music this way? One song maybe takes a while to get recorded due to lack of time and miles apart. But we take so much joy doing it so it´s worth waiting!
Our recent recordings "4500 times" and "What you´re proposing" are to find on our youtube channel. Check them out when you have the time.

Sincerely
Studio Quo

Hi Inna!
4500 was a real challenge to record, and it´s my all time favorite too.
So the love for Quo shone through!? I didn´t know that!
Thank you for your kind words!!

Hi there! I'm impressed. I've just listened to your version of 4500 Times, one of my all-time Quo favourites, and I think you've done a really great job. It's amazing. This, well done, its very very good indeed.

Thank you for your kind words regarding 4500 times, really nice to hear!!!
And Inna....
Rick playing? Wow.....I thank you most humbly...actually it´s a "practice run" that we kept.
It´s just the two of us, me and my friend Mikael. We play all the instruments ourselves. The drums is actually a programmed drum plugin. I do most of the drum programming but I sometimes require help from a friend on that part. Likewise regarding the piano, as I just couldn´t play the rocking intro.
Taking the songs apart you just have to listen over and over again and try to listen to what´s going on. Lately I´ve heard a secondary guitar on many songs that I´ve not heard before. Like the vocals on the early records are sung twice, you can hear it quite clearly on Ricks vocals on Big fat mama. By doing these recordings we discover the songs once again, by learning them as they should be played. Old songs that you grew a bit tired of suddenly becomes your favorite.
This is how we share the recording between us. Jan: Lead vocals, Backing vocals, Guitars, Bass, Piano, Drum programming, recording and mixing Mikael: Lead vocals, Backing vocals, Guitars, Bass
We are close to finishing a 4 songs later this fall.

The opening post here is fabulous. The enthusiasm and love for the music really shines through. Only the classic line up can make that sound in my opinion, the reunions confirmed that. I always appreciate the enthusiasm of the tribute bands for the Quo sound but I am not always impressed by the attempts to recreate it(I always keep that to myself so as not to dampen the enthusiasm) but you guys keep doing what you are doing. A very good listening experience. Shame you couldn't get a drummer involved though to bring a bit more authenticity to it I will certainly be listening to more when I have some time

Hi Mac and thank you for your kind words. I follow Sound of Status on Youtube. This version is fantastic and very well played. Mikael and Johan are good friends of mine I know them well. They are a very very good tribute band, and they are a really good live band too.
Johan and I were in a tributeband together in the late 90´s, "Status Quovers".

Neza ? I suppose they're Mexican then and probably never been to Europe. So I suspect they'll be rather unknown to members on here, although we do have a Yank or two. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I checked this link out in the shout-box yesterday but I wasn't sure what I was meant to be listening to. Some Quo influenced music interrupted by what sounded like manic Spanish ramblings Yeah, looks like Mexico. Some wrestlers dotted about as well to confirm it. I can see the name "Suzy Quo" above the crossed guitars but otherwise this seem to be some sort of DJ as much as anything else. Not sure what it is if I'm honest All guess work though.
