Friday morning, a nice flight to Zurich, the taxi to the Swissotel not quite ready with our room, so a little wander round.
Bearing in mind we are situated about 6 miles or so from the city centre.
Room ready, hang up our best clobber, then taxi to the city, time wise about 3pm
Went up to the lake end, got a bottle of water, a big sausage thingy each and sat on a bench facing the lake and sunshine
lovely.
Back to the hotel, a quick change of clothes, redo the make up and off we go. Stayed local and went to a Mexican restaurant.
I bet there is someone thinking, this is more like a diary than a gig report, then don't read on !!!
We booked this with FTMO, ,and we gather that the ones that came on the train arrived about 8ish.
On this point well done Yvonne and hubby and team for organising this and thank you for our goody bags.
Back to the hotel bar and it was nice to see all the Status Quo shirts filling the place. Had a beer and chat to a couple from Swindon.
The fella thought i was the bassist, Neil Murray, any way nice couple, as was everyone we spoke to.
Saturday, Met up with most of the crowd at breakfast, Crapmodem, now i know you, got our goody bags, nice breakfast.
Everyone is so friendly, which is surely what being part of the Status Quo "movement" is all about.
Off to the city centre, Taxi driver tried to take us the long way round, soon blocked that silly idea
The Model insisted on going on a tour bus, oh well it killed an hour,,,,,,,,,,,an hour of my life i will never get back
Still if it keeps my lover happy, then i am happy !
A really lovely day, had a meal on the river bank area, and a bit of people watching.
Back to the hotel, get changed,,, when i say we change, we do shower aswell, just in case you were wondering
A 10 minute walk, downhill to The Hallestadion, a good venue, has a 13,000 capacity. A little refreshment first i think my little Model
Met up with our friend Richard from Holland and his friends, Monica from Zurich, Brian, world champion Dutch speedskater and his lawyer, sorry forgot their names.
Support band finished, no snakelady we did not see them, and in we go.
The place is packed, we were in the standing, surprised 'eh, but all the seating looked taken, you do have the stage at one end, so taking that into account, a minimum of 10,000. Not bad for a band that is regularly slated in some quarters.
I know a lot of the FTMO crowd got there early to get to the front, we sneaked in down the side and got quite near, Rhino side.
The Drone revs up and on stroll our mates to give us another fabulous show. Caroline gets the audience bouncing , it is such a great opener,
never tire of it
It's a little difficult to pin point song highlights as we just love it all as i know most of us do. Wild Side of Life always good for me to hear for
certain reasons, Again Again in the medley, i always think it's to short.
Hold you Back, "on yer toes", it's funny, we all do as we are told by Head Teacher Francis
A few people, shall we say, PISSED, but i find if you ask politely they soon bugger off, one women half fell in front of The Model, then got up and took
a swing at her, that's what you get for helping someone anyway, that don't happen in my world, grabbed her arm and gave it a light squeeze and told
her to vacate the area, see i can be polite .
Anyway, that did not spoil our night. Leon's solo was a bit different, except the end bit. Down Down, apart from Caroline, was greeted with the biggest cheer,
Francis takes control, seems to love playing about with the audience.
Soon it's Rocking all over the World, this gets everyone singing, bouncing, dancing and as the band walk off, a big cheer for the encore.
Back they come, a quick curtsey and off the go again giving the crowd what they want! All over, plenty of waving and off they go.
Quite like, the point Francis made about the 2 yearly visit, Rhino again in tune with the crowd.
As we walk through the sea of plastic mugs, people giving out flyers for Status Quo 2017, fantastic, as Francis said at the same gig in
2013, if you turn up, so will we, likewise Francis.
Back to the hotel, not so many of the FTMO group as they had an early start, us and Richard and his "entourage" had a few drinks together.
And i met Pressbutton, thanks for coming over to us, nice lady, see you out there
Spoke to a few other people who did not know of this boards existence, i put them right, so if your reading this, HELLO, if not why not?
Said our good byes, the bar closed a bit quick, off to bed, back up for breakfast, only a few Status Quo fans left.
Late afternoon flight back.
Really good to meet you all, and despite what one s***ehawk said, you can speak to us anytime. We are all together for the same thing,
Good music and having a good time
Enjoy Life
