Sunday morning, early flight fro Heathrow with Aer Lingus, short taxi ride to the Jurys Inn Hotel, room not ready, was early I suppose.
Had a wander round the town, nothing open till mid-day.
Bumped into Yvonne and her man, sorry have never been told your name and another couple, anyway nice people, as most
Status Quo fans are.
Back to the hotel, lady on reception said because we had been kept waiting, not really it was now only 12.30, we can get 10% off
all food and drink and a late check out of 2pm on Monday, which worked out well as our flight home was at 4pm, or so we thought!!
Meeting up with Andy and Maura and a few of their friends, from Dublin, they were gonna be at Ziggys bar, but we gave that a swerve. :vrm:
Off to the gig at The Marquee, which turned out to be just that, a large circus tent, absolutely fantastic.
As we entered the grounds a lady all dressed up in T shirt and mini dress with Radio 98fm logos all over stopped us and asked are we in a band,
could she take a photo in front of their backdrop. The Model was in like a ferret , but it was quite a nice thing. We looked the part she said. Found out along with a few others they are using it for advertising and their web site.
Met up with Andy and Maura, Joe and the disappearing man :haha: and had a few beers together, love it.
Andy used to be on the original board under andymac. We are off down the front see yer later folks.
Inside there were tiered seats on 3 sides, and standing,we got in position, now what side was it
The Drone, the crowd were loud, on skipped our 5 purveyors of rock, and that song that always gives us a lift, Caroline.
Francis mentioned that a few of them had colds, but not on yer shirt sleeve Francis. But that aside they were on form.
For the ladies, Rick was wearing a glitter T shirt, dark jeans and white trainers :haha: and to that other member of this ensemble , am I
growing me hair as long as The Models !! might do if I can have the red highlights instead of grey ones
Each song delivered like it was fresh to them.
We got pulled to the front by this big Irish chap and he apologised for blocking us out with all his dancing.
The drum solo was received with loud applause and chanting Leon's name, which must give him a great feeling .
Biggest cheer of the night, Down Down, Francis, you could say had the audience in the palm of his hand.
Whatever You Want and Rocking All Over The World has the biggest sing-a-long from the crowd.
The sound was near perfect .
The encore, Thank you very much and plenty of waving from the band, yep really enjoyed. They seem to be on a roll at the moment,
really enjoying being out their.
Back to the hotel, us, Andy, Maura, Joe, no sign of the disappearing Dubliner, a few beers together a bit of chatting about times gone by,
all happy stuff, say our goodbyes. Back to the bar, well we are getting 10% off .
When you next see us and if you do, ask us what we saw at the bar, The Model has told me not to put it on here,, oooh matron.
Chatting to a couple of brothers in their 30's but really big Status Quo fans, as they said they came late to following them.
Off we totter to bed, looked at the clock 3.10am, time flies when your having fun. Down to breakfast at 8.30, lucky for late checkout, grabbed a
few, Zzzzz.
Off to the airport, but thank you to the idiots causing problems at Heathrow, our plane was delayed till 5.30pm.
Another great gig, and another great time.
Resting till Zurich
See you out there
