Lechlade, for us, about a 70 mile drive, so a local gig.
Lovely part of the country. When we first started our business in 1978, I would work say, 12/14 hours a day, with the model doing the
paper work when I got home. I only worked half day Sundays, so that half a day was our time, only 0ne baby then, but another one in
1980. This was the area we drove to, sorry a bit long winded, but it has happy memories .
Anyway, stayed in a nice pub, The Old Swan Inn, lovely room, 4 poster and all stone walls, who said romance is dead .
Out for a nice walk, down to the festival area. Walked through a purpose built meadow, that had cottages on two sides, I always get
a little feeling when we come to beautiful places like this, yep I could live here. Bet that would shock the neighbours when they see me .
Probably keep the model and send me packing . The festival area was right on the Thames, anyway a walk to the marina then back to the
hotel. If your reading, see done as we were told.
ps the coffee went cold!!. :coffeeaddict:
Back to the pub, a quick spruce up, the off we go, less than a 10 minute walk.
Got there about 6.30.
A bit early for us.
Here we are, in support band land.
A nice smallish festival, food places, shops, little trucks on hire to tow children around, liked that. Two marquee with bands playing although one
had ladies doing belly dancing, hmm.
One young lady said she had come from Gatehouse, which is near Dumfries a nice person, but the music was to commit suicide to. Sorry.
Perhaps she has a local gig supporting someone soon,,,,,,come on do your geography
We try not to criticise bands, solo artists etc, but sometimes,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Quite a happy crowd.
A bit of a wait until the maestros wandered on, but when they did, the crowd gave a big roar. Not a massive crowd, but they seemed hell bent on
enjoying themselves .
A different set,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,no sorry I meant a different venue, but we could be anywhere, Caroline cranks up and the audience are with the
band all the way.
Different light system, not the big drop type ones.
What am I saying, don't really give a wotsit, as long as the band plays another great set, we could do it by torch light, well nearly
There was a nice sunset, as our wandering minstrels played on.
As always enjoying being up on the stage, doing what they do best, rocking the joint.
It just seem that 90 minutes or so, goes to fast, but there it is Rocking All Over The World, the crowd singing along.
The encore, no Burning Bridges.
Another great show, now onto the next .
A bit dodgy walking out, signs everywhere saying uneven ground, got that right, but people had the lights from their mobiles on, so
a quick walk besides the Thames, up onto the road, nd a couple of minutes back to the pub with rooms.
A few drinks at the bar, a nice manager running the place.
A few gig goers came in, 2 quite loud saying they enjoyed it, but really Quo were only 3 chord wonders and they liked top of the bill Saturday,
Dr. and the Medics, I never said a word, mind you as they spoke The Model grabbed my hand, gave it a squeeze, that is my cue to behave
Each to their own I suppose.
Off to bed about 1ish and down for breakfast at 8.30, same guy serving breakfast, as he said, cannot get the staff. Off home and in by 11.30.
Then a walk down to Denham Fayre with the family and our little Grandson, The Model won a teddy bear on the shooting range, got 7 out of 7.
Had a great weekend, with once again Status Quo being the highlight, second only to me and the model holding hands and walking along with
our grandson.
You can't whack it
