Well what a nice weekend.
Started on Saturday in Brighton, snakelady, catlady, and of course, The First Lady, I was a thorn amongst
three roses
A nice day just wandering around one of England's nicest cities, cream teas on the patio, and all that.
You'll never guess what happened,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,keep guessing
Sunday; We met up with Kathrin, Tamara and Rose in the pub as specified by Lozenge, lots of Quo fans around, a few
nods etc.
Then on to the Hammersmith Odeon, sounds better than the Apollo, ah memories.
Inside, decided to give the support a miss.
Introduced to Loz and Neil and also Yvonne who runs the fan site and her husband. It's funny when you are standing around
you will always nod or say hello to someone, Status Quo fans are a friendly bunch .
Kathrin, Tamara and Rose went off to their seats and us to ours, see you later girls!.
Great seats, front row, right bang level with Rhino.
Told The Model, to watch her skirt rising, didn't want Rhino and Francis having a gander
Of course when I say told, I mean asked,,,, I know my place!!!
The lights dim and on come the string quartet, Freddie, accordion man, percussionist, and the two backing singers,
then the drone,
Then on wander the minstrels , great applause, a few hellos and into And it's Better Now, Break The Rules, Again and Again and Paper Plane,
Then a little chat from Francis, then into, Mystery Song and Little Lady.
The band are always happy on stage, but I have to be honest they seemed very happy and at ease, just sitting there and playing
what seemed like their favourite songs.
It all seemed so casual, that's a compliment by the way, almost like they have turned up in your lounge.
There was a good feeling about the whole night .
When Caroline came on, that was it everyone, well nearly, were out of their seats.
White socks, well there was two of us
The Model went off to the loo, Francis looked across and done a double take, and mouthed, "where she gone to, I mouthed back the answer,,,
got a cheeky grin that chap.
As you know yourselves the band have a great connection with the audience, and I know that is much appreciated.
On the band went through the set list.
Commercial Break :coffeeaddict: can't find the one for tea, but you get the idea.
And I'm back, just caught the 2nd Coronation Street , before I came back upstairs, I said to The Model, why can't I dictate this
and you type as I speak, she told me to kiss off, well I think that's what she said! , cor blimey I lead a dogs life !!!!!!!!!
Where was I, easily distracted me, Pictures of Matchstick Men, the strings really enhance this song and it's, dare I say, better
than the original, never thought I would say that.
The set came to a finish, Whatever You Want, and a rousing Rocking all Over The World, from the front you could hear the crowd singing
and it echoed down , hard to explain, but it was a feel good sound.
Off the minstrels strolled, but the others stayed, could there be an encore, does bread fall jam side down, are we ALL NOT THE BEST FANS IN THE WORLD,
you bet your sweet bippy, sorry got carried away there.
Back on, Rock 'till You Drop, not really a sad song, but the way Francis, puts the words across always makes me feel a little sad, not for long though,
straight into Burning Bridges, and yep you guessed right, it could be the song to lift the old girls roof off. Again it is just a feel good song. .
A few bows and waves to the audience and off they wander, leaving smiles all round. I think it's about 24 songs they played, as always it seemed
effortless. .
The Model made a good point, it is nice to hear songs, that are not normally or my never be played on the "normal" gigs and also with
that different set up
My favourites;
Again and Again, sounds a bit like a sea shanty
Don't Drive My Car, acoustic, yes, but still that underlying driving beat
Pictures of Matchstick Men, bloody hell, I thought a whole orchestra had walked in.
What am I saying , I don't think we could have faulted any song.
We did go to the Roundhouse, but this gig was different, obviously listening to the album helps.
In our top 10 of all time Status Quo gigs, and we have seen a couple
Back outside to meet up with Kathrin and the girls, a nice hug, can I have me wallet back :lolflg:, Kathrin if I catch your sore throat
it's worth it. Glad you had a great time, and we have also met a few more Quo fans.
I don't think the Acoustic idea ends at The Royal Albert Hall, it will raise it's head again, and we will be there, will you?.
