I enjoyed the gig last night, the sound mix was much better than the CDs or DVD. The accordion was not prominent in the overall sound and the strings added depth to a lot of the numbers. Rick's and Francis's vocals were good but Francis had to keep snatching drinks of water whenever he could throughout the set. I'm not too keen on some of the acoustic versions especially Down Down and Mystery Song seguing into Little Lady but I liked POMM better than the original. I miss the whistle effect on R'n'R. As ever, Andrew contributed much. Leon was less prominent than usual because of the extra percussion and Rhino did the expected sterling work. Francis remarked that this was his 3rd visit to Wolverhampton in 2 years after a very, very long gap. I hope it won't be his last. He looked bemused at one point when someone started a chant of Oggy, oggy, oggy. But............the support? I didn't see all of it but I spent most of the time they were on trying to decide which of two audiences they were most suitable to entertain ...... 1.) A free concert for an OAP's afternoon club. 2.) Early evening "family" entertainment at a holiday camp 50 years ago. I have seen better than 1. at a local chapel and that included a cup of tea and food. (all free) Both 1. and 2. would have enjoyed the encouragement to participate in silly gestures and inane vocals. thumbs-down-clipart12 I went on the bus but had a lift home from friends from the village so didn't have to rush off at the end when the band were showing their appreciation of the audience. And I bounced for BB!
