Right, 2nd time I pressed the wrong button and wiped the whole thing off
We are about 20 miles to the west of London, so a nice local one.
Taxi in and out later for that matter.
If you have never been to this venue, the 100 Club is at 100 Oxford Street, just a pair of doors, down some stairs and there it is.
A small stage central and a bar each end.
Brings back memories of my gigging youth, The Motors, Ducks Deluxe, Kilburn and the High Roads, Dr. Feelgood, which was at the time called Pub Rock.
There's Rhino on the stage doing photos with people. To be honest I am a little shy on this sort of thing, yes Kathrin I can do shy, but the model
takes charge. The photographer says you'r next, and the model said which side of the stage do we go up.
A lovely reply, "any side just get on stage". Now I am a fairly mild mannered sort of man, but there are things I do not accept. But this being a special
night we obeyed, had the photo done and a chat with Rhino and exit stage left, with the model nearly missing the last step and going arse over tip. But
she stayed upright. Still love her in those high heels
Now my little photographer we may bump into each over at some Status Quo gig over the coming year and I will give you the benefit of one of
my lectures. Good manners cost nothing.
Rhino was then signing things for people, one lady had her black T shirt signed, on the back, trouble was Rhino was using a black pen, she was bent over
in front of him whilst he signed from the rear,,, ooohh matron, took him a minute or so to realise
Had a beer, Camden Brewery. Hells lager, it was as well, should have stuck to the bottles like the model.
First band on, Charge. Rhinos 2 sons and 2 other fellas. Always good to see new bands writing and playing their own stuff. A short set, but not bad.
Then State of Quo. We have not seen many Status Quo tribute bands, as we feel we are lucky to see the real band a few times a year.
We have seen these before, so 2nd one, 2nd time. They are good and soon have the crowd singing along . Quite liked Slow Train. On
for about an hour, and went off to a good cheer and applause. .
The stage is reset. Can't think of his name, the Quo guitar man, we call him minime, he does look like Rick at times. Anyway he seemed to be in charge.
Hello to the couple from Denmark, thanks for taking the photos, hello Dutch Richard, hello to the blonde lady and hello to the couple that stood behind us
and shook our hands a few times !!!
It's always nice at a gig like this where you may not know someone by name, but there is always that nod or hello. As we have said before it is like
a family that follow Status Quo and it's members. Hope that sounds right Well you know what I mean.
Then on comes Rhino's Revenge. Both the sons, a guitarist from the Charge band, oh yes and Rhino, hence the name.
Straight into a few tracks from the new album.
I won't say the set list, just in case you are going to a gig.
The set comprised of the new album, older songs and songs Rhino has written with/for Status Quo.
We really enjoyed the gig and you could sense on stage were having a good time too.
On the new ones we both quite liked, My Name is Stan. (in the fan mag, put as Stan the Man)
Rhino's daughter came on stage to sing on one song, a right family affair. You could see Dad was proud.
On stage about hour and 20 minutes, came back for an encore, a Status Quo song not really played on stage, but good to hear.
Mind that aircraft .
Got the T shirt and of course the CD.
We had an enjoyable night, said our good nights to everybody, Rhino had more kisses on the cheek from the model, than I did that night.
Thanked the young promoter Aiden Johnson, whom I think this is his first foray into gig/tour booking, plus the Butlins event.
He sent us an email yesterday thanking us for going, nice touch.
A good night, back up the apples and get in the sherbet dab and go home
Enjoy Life
