Left home at 5.30pm, the M6 with its usual congestion, A38M not too bad, then in Birmingham the satnav (out of date) sent us the wrong way. Went a long stretch before we could turn back. Got to the South car park and spiralled up to level 10. Pay and Display - realised I hadn't got my change purse with me and we hadn't got enough for the £6.50 charge. No problem, one machine accepts cards. Like hell it does. Rejects two then accepts mine, accepts the pin number, please wait ...............and wait...............then says transaction cancelled. Go looking for a change machine and find one on level 8, get ticket and back to level 10 to display it. Eventually we are in the building and not impressed with the food and drink on offer, not as good as the NEC the last two years. The building is supposed to have had a complete make-over to become the Barclaycard Arena (that's a thought, perhaps the car park only accepts Barclaycards!) but although the ladies toilets looked very nice and gleaming, with excellent hand-dryers, the plastic locks on the cubicle doors were rubbish and already failing. Then we come to the arena itself - really good. I was seated on the front row of the lower level of the side Block 3, eye level with the stage and a very good view of both stage and audience. I sat through Chas and Dave, pleasant enough but take it or leave it as far as I am concerned. They obviously had a few of their own fans there with someone even dressed in a complete bunny, head and all, outfit for 'Rabbit' and a handful cavorting to the bemusement of Quo fans.
Then...................time for Quo!
Fantastic audience and atmosphere, at the very first sound, even before the curtain dropped, we were on our feet. The whole place was rocking. Nobody was asked to sit down and the only seated person near me was my sort-of-son-in-law who was only there on duty as my chauffeur. The chap on the other side of me was so into it that I had to duck a couple of times to avoid his arms. It was as though people had been biding their time through the support waiting to erupt for Quo. And the wait was worth it - Oh Yes!!! The lads were on top form. You couldn't call this panto. The place really ROCKED. :rr-hbg:
That was the best Christmas present I could have wished for. :xmas:

Entertaining report that, Ann ! Did they reintroduce BEL or is it dropped permanently ? In any case all reports so far have been very positive indeed ! The band did not disappoint with their performance this autumn/winter

I would have come down to speak to you and a couple of other people but there was a barrier in front of the first row in Block 3 so it would have meant going back up and going round the outer ring of the arena and into another entrance to reach the ground floor. Now I am certain what you look like I'll say hello next time.

Enjoy it, I know you will The CDs arrived in a Jiffy bag this afternoon. Nice cover with a few pics from last year's and this year's tours, a lot of thank yous and all the venues they played on the winter tour. I'll swap it for the Tokyo Quo CD in my car and have a blast on my way to and from work over the coming weeks. Enjoy - and be careful to not drive too fast :f1: I haven't ordered a live CD this time. Usually, since the first one (Westonbirt), we've ordered at least one every winter, but I've found I rarely ever listen to them, so I refrained from buying another one. Would've been different had MOTT and BEL still been in the set .. maybe.
