I took the giant leap of sifting through the reactions from elsewhere, and found it interesting to read the initial (highly) negative reactions to the Roundhouse gig reduced in quantity and also "venom" (for want of a better word). The positive comments grew, and most negative posters seemed to stop posting whereas had it been Bula Quo for example, they'd have continued until doomsday.
We've far less members here of course, and I know people have said they loved it, but maybe there's a polite silent few who hated the thing but just chose to not comment. So hopefully this poll, if as many as possible take part, will give us a brief snapshot of what we all thought of it. Are we all "clapping seals" , or is there a mix of opinions on this MB?

I used to be a member "elsewhere" but i couldnt take the venom any longer so closed my account today.
If im honest i prefer ff and im tired of stale winter gigs but havent missed a tour since i started in 1984.
But i was there last night and it truely was awesome. To see and hear frame play was something else - in a normal gig you cant appreciate his talent in the same way. The whole thing just worked and the place was electric.
I truely hope they tour this format.

FF gig was great, but so was last night (and hopefully tomorrow night will be too) - it is possible to enjoy it all.

Yep, it is
Nope, as Ann says, it wasn't all perfect, yet it was so refreshing, and I just love the thought that it went out to the public, who saw how talented and versatile Quo are, and not just Rick and Francis either. It was especially great to see Andy in the limelight. Also some superb Quo tracks got played that Mr Joe Public person wouldn't have even known: Claudie, Reason For Living, Nanana etc etc. Loved it.

I see they're in Preston (I think?) next year, already booked for headlining. I think it's going to be akin to what we watched last night. I've pencilled that one in ...

For what it's worth, I agree with just about all of the above too.
I've probably seen the band too often over the years and it did get to the stage that you knew what was coming next and because of that, I've not been to a winter tour since the Quid Pro Tour although I did see them in May but that was only because they were just up the road from where I live.
The only snag that I can see to prevent this album being toured is perhaps the expense? Extra musicians etc?
Who knows, this might be a whole new beginning for the band.
I wonder how Matt Letley feels? I read somewhere that he was struggling to cope with volume that the band played at and the first album that the band record after he leaves is an acoustic one!

It wasn't perfect but I loved it and wish I had been there. Yes, the same as Ann for me too. There were some dodgy moments, but overall it was a superb gig and I loved it on here and if I had the chance again I'd probably have made more effort to go... perhaps if they do another one then a few of us might manage to get together to go

I was there on Wednesday with an opened mind. My last Quo concert was the brilliant FF gig at Hammersmith, hard, loud and in your face. So after 42 years of seeing the band, I was looking forward to this and I wasn't disappointed. You could see Rick was nervous, but he had admitted that earlier. He would rather be leaning in to his speaker stack whacking hell of his rhythm guitar then sitting on a Stool with an accoustic guitar. There were mistakes, so what, I enjoy it and to me, that is all that matters.

It was indeed a refreshing change and most enjoyable. It looks great too on you tube - in full and I hope it becomes a DVD release at some point. I still think where you can stand at a concert should depend on your height - I don't know how I always end up behind the world's tallest Quo fan !

The one thing that stands out for me is that Quo are prepared to take risks and do something different - even like Bula Quo! They don't take themselves too seriously, but do care passionately about their performances, hence the nerves at the Roundhouse. And tehy try to encourage the next generation - Freddie Edwards for example, and Bernadette Rossi supporting Quo a few years ago.

I prefer FF and acoustic to the current common shows. I guess I have seen the same too many times and therefore it is brilliant to see something else. I was at the round house and had the experience of a lifetime

As posted in the other thread "I loved that gig" my wife and I went and thought it was awesome. Best gig we've seen in ages and it put a feel good factor back into being a quo fan. From who we spoke to after the gig the majority seemed to share the same viewpoint.

People here seem to like Status Quo, unlike the venom that is spewed out by a few on another board I visit. Think I'm gonna like it here.

I think it's superb how the next generation are welcomed, supported and encouraged by Quo members. Having Freddie in the front row was a masterstroke. He was superb in the Francis Rossi solo band, and appears to be a thoroughly likeable chap. The Quo "acoustic guitar wall of sound" straight from the off was just excellent. 5 guitarists in unison, in front of the other musicians, plus Leon behind also on guitar, immediately said "errr, check this out - this is gonna be something special". Nice to see Freddie doing the very brief fiddly bit in Down Down too, what a great smile to Rick as he finished it. Clearly Rick was wholly happy that Freddie was there next to him, as that was the most genuine and natural of smiles to Rick, which wouldn't have been so had Rick had a problem with him being there. No, they were the extended Quo family, all getting on famously, and it showed.
Quo taking risks, and not sticking to the same old same old, and perservering and succeeding despite the the flack they've received since they very first plucked a guitar string together, are some of the the most endearing and admirable things about them.

Question............why the name elvis57? I ask because I suspect 1957 was a bit before your time. That was the year I discovered rock and roll when Heartbreak Hotel was released. Then came Quo. :bss:
