:DMe and my wife went last night. Thought it was absolutely awesome. We were about 10 rows back in the standing area so had a great view. Have been going to see the band every year since 1985 (first gig was Wembley stadium with Alarm, INXS and Queen). Went to Birmingham LG Arena for last years winter tour and it was 1st time we came away from a Quo concert feeling let down as they were so dire and 10cc were miles better. On that night Rossi couldn't sing (possibly due to a bad cold) and had to keep missing the words. The place was only half full and it was missing the Quo atmosphere. Really thought they had lost it which is a shame as Quo is my number 1 passion. Back to last night though and what a difference. The vocals, harmonies, backing singers (very fit by the way....or as Francis said eye candy 1 and 2) and the additional musicians made it the best concert we have been to by far. It was clear that everybody on stage could see that they were putting on a great show and had nailed it big time. Just got home and having recorded it on Sky box have watched it back already and well pleased to see ourselves on the video. Judging by the smile on Francis's face there is clearly going to be an acoustic tour next year. After the gig, got chatting to people in The Enterprise bar across the road and even the FF die hards said it was a great gig. We have tickets for this years winter tour at Nottingham and after last night I am now wishing they scrap the usual set and put on a repeat of last night. The Aquostic album, by the way, for those that have not yet bought is also superb. Happy Quoing ahead me thinks. Is this Colino the banana tree or a different one? Either way - welcome The eye candy that Francis was referring to was Andy Bown and Rhino... but I'm glad you & your good lady enjoyed the gig

Great to read your comments and also to hear about the opinions of the gig you were given afterwards.
Watching it on tv it was clear Francis utterly loved it, as did Andy (and Freddie). One of the backing singers I think I read somewhere was also a singer for Francis' solo tour. Rhino looked a little uneasy if I'm honest, but quietly did his job well. Rick looked a little out of his comfort zone to start with I felt, but soon got into it and I don't doubt at all he'd love to do it again - that was a BIG change for him, and I expect he will have been really surprised at how much he ended up enjoying it, and also the positive reactions he would have been given. His voice did struggle at times (particularly All The Reasons), but that was probably due to him not being used to curtailing it so much as was needed at times last night. On the whole I thought it was a stunning gig, and one I just have to see live.
So yes, here's hoping Aquostic goes on tour

Having watched the full gig for the first time just now on youtube (after having listened live on the internet on the very night) I am even more convinced that this was a magical concert And although the camera didn't capture him very often, I believe that young Leon enjoyed himself immensely I guess it was his first Quo gig where he was allowed to play guitar and add backing vocals.

Oooooh I forgot about Leon Yep, good for the lad - bet he loved it, as he's clearly a very accomplished musician and enjoys musical variety.

Just reading through this thread again makes me grin like a Cheshire cat - what an amazing band they are, with Francis the standout performer last night. If I had to choose the standout performer from the gig, it'd be Andy, hands down. Thought he was just terrific - guitar, harmonica, ukelele, piano, vocals. Sooooo good to see plenty of camerawork focus on him.
Still grinning here too btw, t'was good, huh

Just watched the whole gig again.
That's one of the best things Quo have ever done.

Rick's voice on Again & Again was just perfect. Talky rocky deepy singy talky.
I could have done without Rain, and if they do tour they'll need to drop All The Reasons, and Mystery Song & Little Lady are strange choices for me though doable. The rest though from the word go are ideal. SUCH a good gig, it had better be released on dvd.

Just reading through this thread again makes me grin like a Cheshire cat - what an amazing band they are, with Francis the standout performer last night. For the first time ever I thought Margarita Time sounded great, but the standout tracks for me were probably Claudie, Rock'n'Roll, POMM and Rock 'Til You Drop. I thought Rock n Roll and Rock Til You Drop sounded great... And I agree about Margarita Time, somehow it clicked into place with this. Francis certainly seemed to enjoy it. The album finally arrived today, listened to it this afternoon, and I'm gonna stick it on again in a bit.

.
Just trying to make a point.
It's a little square, not a point .. Since I last posted in this thread I must've watched the Roundhouse gig at least 10x and still haven't tired of it. It's wonderful, despite the nervousness and mistakes ! Btw. Rich, you were right about Andy having been outstanding - I had only heard the gig then, but not watched it, so I didn't know about all those different instruments he played.

It was brilliantly done... One of the best concerts I've watched on TV. It's amazing how stripping it down to acoustic brings out the melodies and subtitles. The media have been so dismissive of Quo in the past, they really are very underrated as musicians and writers. That's one of the better typos I've read in a while
