No that's all right Mac, you rest, i'll do it :lolflg:
Left home at 9.00. am for the 180 mile drive. Easy journey, arrived at the hotel, The Earl of Doncaster just after mid-day, well had
to stop for a cuppa.
Lovely hotel, all Art Deco. I ordered a deluxe room as it was the model's birthday weekend. Great view onto a park and a cricket
ground. A park to the rear aswell.
So we decided to go out for a stroll and get a bit of sunshine lovely. Ended up in a quaint tea room just 2 doors from the hotel.
More tea, well for me anyway, no hot drinks for the Queen .
Back to the hotel to put on me best "bumper" boots, and necessary make up etc, not me !!!!
Taxi to the racecourse, only a mile but you know what it's like in heels or this time, raised shoes, wedgies i think you ladies call 'em.
Although we do like horse racing, not to bothered about getting there to early.
Just in time for the 7.05 race, i had a bet on a horse called Cosseted, guess who i was thinking of , anyway 6/1, had £20 on it
and it won, so there were our beer tokens. Had a bet on the next race but pipped at the post. The last race we did not bother with.
Before taking our place, went to the bar, these 2 Scottish fellas came over and one of them started singing Rocking All Over The World to
us. He asked for my autograph and us with him in a photo, happy to oblige, both a little pissed by quite nice.
Took up our place, down the front to the right, just a few feet back from the barrier.
This annoyed me a little, the stage was some 30 feet away from the barrier, sorry my European friends, 10 meters, which is a bit far,
also as Francis said, as it got dark, they could not see the audience.
This was strange,,,, as we stood waiting, the chap next to me grabbed my shoulder and said, "remember", we actually met him when, we had
been to the Zurich gig last year and then onto the NON GIG in Milan, meeting him at Milan airport. He was staying at the Earl of Doncaster
as well with his son and yes his birthday was on the 16th to. Come on keep up. :lolflg:
The gig; got here at last, sorry i know i ramble on a bit, now where was i oh yes, the gig,,,,,,,,,,,,enjoyed it.
Now on to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,just kidding.
The drone kicks off, Caroline, never fails to give us a lift. The set was as previous. Hold You Back really got the crowd bouncing
and singing along. Every song greeted with a loud cheer. The same medley, i do like, the way it starts off with, Again Again, would love to have that played as a full version, but i think i know the reason why not. Wild Side of Life, i really do like that .
Then on through the night until Rocking All Over The World, which had the crowd at their loudest. Same encore and good night.
Francis, his usual self, told us about the new album they are recording. Francis if your reading this, wear a vest or i can give you some of my hair to
stuff down your shirt
Rick, what can you say, plug him in and off he goes
Andy, always there in the background, sometimes, just wish he would get to the mic quicker for his harmonica solos
Rhino, as usual his cheerful self, always getting the crowd involved
Leon, s**t left him out, good job for edit, see i admit my mistakes. We were Matthew "fans", but i think he is slotting in nicely.
They are with out a doubt the best live rock act and one of the most hard working.
The crowd was a real mix, race goers, maybe curious people or just Quo fans. 2 couples next to us, said it's the first time to see them in 10 years
but now they are re-hooked.
Walked back to the hotel, slowly :lolflg: A few drinks, then off to bed, what a great night. Panto Quo, my arse. Status Quo, the one and only.
Next morning, a bit of breakfast, saw our Dutch friends son, said his Dad still in bed, a bit ill, we call it hung over
Drive home, bar-b-que with all the family, a nice way to end the models birthday weekend.
We love this life.
Enjoy Life
