So we're back home - after we managed to get to the gig in the first place: First time we set out, we had our tickets left behind in the kitchen and only noticed after we had been driving for 20min. already .. We got lucky though, probably found the only free parking space still left in closer proximity to the venue. The doors opened early, so we only had to queue for a few minutes and got us a reasonably good place 5-6 rows back right in front of Mick Box - which meant we were stood between Rick and Francis later. Harmonie Heilbronn is a rather small venue, 3-4000 punters at a guess, but it was sold out and so it proved difficult to find Michael and Sandra (aka curly and model). Thanks to modern technology - mobiles - we managed in the end. :wop: The sound for both bands was good, at least with ear protection, which we always wear and the atmosphere where we were stood was fantastic. We were surrounded by real fans, who knew every song - even the Bula Quo songs - and were rocking, headbanging, singing and playing the air guitar throughout the gig. Guess who's still completely knackered this morning .. ? Heep were good as well - as expected - and like Quo played a mixture of classics like Sunrise, Easy Living, Stealing and my favourite July Morning up to the recent Paxo produced Into The Wild album. They've got one hell of a drummer, and despite his mannerisms Mick Box still is a very good guitarist. Only Bernie Shaw's voice has seen better days and doesn't fit some of the songs - most notably the encore Lady In Black, but that had everybody clapping and singing along the ahaha bits anyway. When they said their final goodbyes for the tour Mick found warm words of appreciation for Quo and their crew. To top it all, my drummer son (and Heep fan) caught one of the drum sticks. Quo came on and what can I say - despite knowing what to expect I enjoyed everything till after Down Down immensely. That start with Paper Plane and Hold You Back following Caroline is a winner and has everybody on their toes from the word go, so I hope we won't ever have to endure the Wanderer or SBYBIL again. Michael had mentioned that Rhino was ill now (he can tell you more about it ..) , but you wouldn't have noticed. Francis was completely fit again and Rick did surprise me, especially how good his voice sounded (even though it had been mentioned a few times before in gig reports from this tour). So a rocked out and thirsty but happy group of six left the venue afterwards and even managed to find a free (mini) table in the second bar we tried. I didn't have a cocktail though, I had a banana milk shake, same as my kids, as I was REALLY thirsty . .. in the end we arrived back home well after 1am.

Thanks for your gig report, Snakelady. I could picture and hear it all. Glad you enjoyed the concert(s) as much as we did last week. Now wasn`t it great that your son caught the drum stick? Well done! You left your tickets at home? :oo: I always check ten times and make sure I`ve got them in my pockets before we leave the house. I`m a Virgo, you know. Good to hear Francis is back on form. Poor Rhino. As I said before, November isn`t a good month for touring. One more show tonight, and then they can go home and relax before the GB tour starts. I wish I could have been there, too, Snakelady, rocking along with you lot and Curly and his Model. And have a banana milk shake after the gig. I`d die for banana milk shakes. All I ever get at gigs or afterwards is beer, beer, and more beer - and I hate beer. Strangely I always long for vanilla ice-cream after rock concerts. Rock on! Just you come down south with your men :vrm: - the more the merrier (and I hate beer as well) <- milk shakes

A bit slow, sorry, did not get home till just after 9pm last night. I will start as normal, in a confused manner. Flew into Stuttgart on Friday evening about 8ish, got a cab to Heilbronn 90 euro!, still got to be honest we could not be arsed sorting out the trains. Our hotel was on one level on the 14th floor of an office block, fairly basic. City Hotel garni just in case you want to go,,,serves you right. To be fair the couple that own it, very nice. (WE THOUGHT) Went to a bar opposite and had a few beers I am waffleing as snakelady has already done a good review. Saturday, went out for a stroll round. Us lazy British are way behind on speaking various languages, most of us expect people to speak English, we don't. We went into a restaurant to have a meal, all ordered in German, no not really, just a case of pointing :lolflg: enjoyed it. Meet Rhino along the street, said he was full of cold. Didn't even offer to buy us a cup of tea. Obviously on the right medication as he had a great gig. The gig, at last, Our "hotel" was just a 5 minute walk, got there about 15 minutes before Uriah Heep came, got myself a beer and the model on champagne, can you European venues stop selling champagne it's costing me a fortune Uriah Heep a good set, last saw them when i was 16, not a fan but still enjoyed them. As Snakelady said by the miracle of technology we meet up inside, nice to put a face to the name, hope we didn't frighten you to much !!! The set, well you all know it well, no Country Girl before The Drone, trying to catch us out eh. The Drone with a little mix of Bula Quo,a little bit of sales pitch there, quite right. Then BANG into Caroline, said it before but the band are always on fire, love it. We love to hear Paper Plane, Down the Dustpipe, Wild Side of Life,,,,,,,,,,,i like that one . a great gig again and always time flys. Rocking all over the World a great finish and it seemed that eveyone was singing along, encore then bye bye. Meet up with snakelady and her men and off to a bar, milkshakes all round ! not us, have to keep the beer sales up. No we appreciate their long drive home. Always nice to meet up with fellow Quo fans. Nearly there, Our flight was not till 19.30 on Sunday so we thought to leave Heilbronn about 16.30. On paying the hotel bill i asked if i could pay a little extra to keep the room till 4pm, leave the cases in whilst out etc. The answer, no , nice my ****, we close the hotel at mid day on Sundays ,, arrgghhh. As we say, "well i will go to the foot of our stairs". The only downside of a great weekend. So we got the cab to the airport, quite a few hours to early. Straight into the BA lounge, and a little "kip". This was our 5th gig in Germany in 2 and a bit years. Got to say great venues, love standing, also always good crowds. Roll on December.

Thanks Curly, always interesting to read your experiences. Ta. We love Status Quo and see them as often as we can fit in. But also it takes us to different places which is the added bonus. Sometimes we put ourselves a little bit on a limb going to some places that are maybe not that easy to get to. So the little gig reports are just a little look into more than the actual gig. We have a friend that is a travel agent and on some of the gigs i have said "why is there no airport near" his correct answer is "they are playing for people in that area not you two," quite right, but we love a challenge. Onwards and Upwards.

Hi Curly, :bwave: Sorry, I`ve been up to my ears with work and have only just resurfaced. :dig: I enjoyed reading your gig report, as I always do. It was very entertaining. I`m glad you and the Model and the snake people had such a good time with Heep and Quo, milk shakes and champagne. What a lot of travelling you do to see the band. Amazing! You must have seen all of Europe by now. Hope to be able to join you all at a Quo gig sometime in the not too far away future. Rock on! Hello Inna, I was getting worried Yep a few gigs under our belt. Yes hope we meet up. Our FF gigs Hammersmith and Dublin, don't know if that helps See you out there
