Which songs remind you of the golden age of the old pub jukebox? Here's one for starters.

Due to not having any pub memories I don't have any pub jukebox memories either. :confused4: Come to think of it - we didn't even have pubs. Maybe there's a reason why I don't like beer ..

Sorry Dale, I've never been one for pubs, and I don't like beer and background music much either. You'll probably get a better response over t'other side!

What the frig is wrong with people? Support your fecking pubs! They are sh!t, filled with overpriced crap, dirty facilities and full of p!ssheads. What's to support? There's only one I like, and that's because it looks or feels absolutely nothing like a traditional pub. Rant over.

In all the pubs I know, there are no piss heads to speak of. Just good, ordinary people... And what's the alternative on a Saturday night? Sit at home on yer own with supermarket beer and the fecking X Factor on telly... feck that, I'm going out for a few pints with my fellow man, and a rugby match on the box.

If you're teetotal, pub prices are an absolute rip off, and as for p!ssheads, you might just be lucky (although I've read your accounts of you drinking a bit too much -so maybe you are one and don't know it? ) - try getting a Taxi in Bristol centre on a weekend - the place is a no go. And yep, try being sober around people who are drinking and you soon realise that it would be better to sit at home than trying to have a decent conversation over the top of the slot machines, sports broadcast in the corner and a twenty watt lightbulbs, whist paying £4 for a pint of diet coke that would cost 50p from Tesco. No thanks, think I'll pass.

Not many traditional pubs left around, most serving food now. No juke boxes in the pubs I ever frequented and not many pissheads either. The pubs full of drunks were avoided by most people except when we went carol singing just before Xmas. Then we collected a fantastic amount from the punters who had got to the sentimental maudlin stage. They were too far gone to even grope. Of course this was in the days of set opening hours. The drinks are cheaper in the working men's clubs around here, we have two in our village. One good thing about pubs these days is that you can get tea and coffee as well as alcoholic and soft drinks.

For all my somewhat excessive drinking, you wouldn't think I'm directly descended from one of the founders of the Temperance Movement. Thomas Swindlehurst...

I'm lapsed teetotaller for the very reasons of getting ripped off in pubs, and peer pressure -but still only about 30 or 40 units per year!

The first (and last) time I put a coin into a jukebox was somewhere in Sweden in the mid 80s. The song I selected was 'Red Sky' by a band with the obscure name of Status Quo. But the word jukebox always reminds me of Joan Jett: what a great song...

Sadly, the last one I recall hearing in a pub was "This Ole House" by Shakin' Stevens. Even more sadly, that was only about 4 months ago in Paignton!!

Heard on the grape vine that the old tenants are going to take over my local again.
I couldn't be happier... they had to move out because of financial problems, their replacements have ruined what was a great pub. Everything should be back to normal by Sunday.
It was great while they ran it... they had bands on every month, a weekly quiz, parties, karaoke nights, open mic nights. It was great, these new people didn't even try...
Feckin' chuffed...
