Saw the Eagles last night at Murrayfield and I have to say they were fantastic.
We were in Edinburgh for our 30th wedding anniversary and it was just a coincidence that this was the last night of our stay and they were playing there, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have booked to go and see them.
I know there’s only 3 remaining members, but flanked by some incredibly talented musicians they wove their way through a great hits set, inc. some solo hits as well.
Heartache tonight, Take It Easy, Lying Eyes, Boys of Summer and Funk#49 were particular highlights for me.
Special note should be made for the harmonies as well, absolutely gorgeous and as far as my untrained ears could tell there didn’t seem to be any trickery used.
Catch ‘em while u can, like so many others they’ll be gone before you know it.

We were put off by the price of the tickets if I'm honest. Although I'm not a big Eagles fan. Mrs Mortified is more keen. I'd have taken her if she'd insisted though. It was a lovely evening in Edinburgh. By east of Scotland standards, that's for sure. I can't believe they played Funk#49 That would have been unexpected! And worth the admission money alone Glad you enjoyed it, mate. Hope you had a terrific break Happy anniversary by the way

I have to admit we were in the cheap seats at the back and I think they were about £60, there were no gaps there but there certainly was elsewhere in the more expensive locations 😀
Funk 49 was great to hear, I am a recent convert to this having heard it over the last few months on planet rock. Cracking funky guitar on there.
Highlight of my night is listening to Joe Walsh, the guy is totally shot away but in good way.
It was indeed a lovely evening, although Mrs B did get a bit cold later on, in fact we were there 4 nights n 5 days and it was pretty good all the time.
Our first time in Edinburgh and Scotland and we loved it, we hope to comeback at a later date and tour around to see alot more of the gorgeous scenery. The people were also fantastic.
Funniest thing for me was going in to a shop at 10 am in the morning and being offered a shot of whiskey, now I like a drink but that was too early even for me 😆

Me and Mrs Mortified recently did the new Johnnie Walker whiskey experience at the west end of Princes Street. Neither of us drink the stuff but it was a really interesting and enjoyable afternoon. I'd recommend it to anyone. It has a stunning rooftop bar as well. Not sure if you've heard it but Joe Walsh re-did Funk#49 on his solo album, Analog Man and called it Funk 50. Same tune, different style but just as good. Great album all round actually. He'd have been the main reason I'd have gone to see The Eagles. Glad you enjoyed the city though. It's suffered because of the pandemic. Normally there are hundreds of thousands of tourists but we're taking some time to recover. And Princes Street is beginning to look a bit shabby on one side because of all the shops closing. Used to be several department stores but they're all gone. The Johnnie Walker building used to be House of Fraser till Mike Ashley got his hands on it But we'll get there again

We did the castle, the Royal Mile, the Vaults under the city ( fantastic ghostly yarns) a cpl of Kirkyards including the famous one. As well as the Eagles @ Murrayfield and Lion King at the Playhouse, along with various eateries, galleries and parks. We had a great time. It looks like there is a recovery on the way in terms of footfall, as the Castle was sold out all the time and the Roal mile was Jam packed, I was very surprised at how popular Edinburgh was with the Americans, every other accent in our hotel was a yank. Interesting! I will check out the Joe Walsh albums as he was a highlight for me. Thanks for the heads up

Good to hear it's picking up a bit The first Edinburgh International Festival in 3 years starts in a couple of months. The city is almost open 24/7 during that month! But it usually rains for a month as well. It's tradition A lot of the Americans come for the golf. At St Andrews mainly. It's only an hour or so up the road. Muirfield is just on the outskirts of Edinburgh to the east. I've got relations in Texas who do that. A sort of pilgrimage to "the old country" My dad used to caddy for them. He can't stick golf but he likes a nice walk
