I've seen Lacuna Coil a few times now and have to say this time was definitely the best yet. I have pretty much a perfect view all the way through, especially when the guy in front of me left and I could be on the barrier halfway back near the mixing desk. The sound was great, then band looked like they were loving it and the crowd were well up for it.
2 Supports were nothing special, but that did not stop the night from being great.

I don't mind them in small doses - especially when Cristina takes to the mic. But I'm not a fan of the 'growling' school of vocalising which my stepdaughter assures me is simply a 'technique'. We have our disagreements because I tell her it's spoilt many a potentially great track (that and the incessantly fast and constant drum-rolling) but she insists it augments and improves how metal should sound. To which she usually, and painfully, adds "in the 21st century". But very considerately leaving out the word "granddad" Glad it was good one, mate

The new album I think has found a happy medium not just when the vocals separate but they are much better together now. I'm not huge on growly metal even though I like Slipknot but sometimes there are hooks and twists that just grab me. I never really paid much attention to Behemoth until I saw them on TV doing Bartzabel at Donington and have found myself checking more of their stuff. Not entirely sure why in the last 20 years or so I've opened my ears to more metal as well as all the other stuff I have always liked. But one thing is for sure us "grandads" are never too old for a bit of rock no matter the particular genre of it.
