Ludwigshafen Eberthalle, 17th Feb. '78. What a gig that was .. Left completely deaf and hooked forever. They didn't tour the UK in 1978 so that's been one of the few years I never saw the band. I think they played Reading Festival but that was about it. Maybe one or two one-offs like Wembley; not sure. Not that year, just Reading in the UK. I was there, so my first year off was 1980, the second year off was 83 and the was my last year off.

Glasgow Apollo 1974. Had been a fan for a year or so. Just an amazing performance and occasion. My legs were stained blue due to wearing brand new jeans that night. The sweat was running down the walls (seriously). With Montrose supporting. Class And the sweat really did run down those sparkly Apollo walls. Either that or they had a serious dampness problem

Harlow Playhouse in Essex 05:02:72, on The 'Dog Of Two Head' tour. My eldest sister took me, 3 weeks before my 15th birthday. It was a school day next day and I couldn't hear f**k all. The pictures from the Piledriver album, were taken at the Essex venue

St Albans City Hall, September 22nd 1973. That midnight I turned 18. Consumed huge amounts of vodka. A large group of friends crowded into one of their Dadâs borrowed Austin to drive home - all singing âKeep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheelâ. More than forty gigs later, still the best live act ever.

When I go next winter, it will actually be the longest gap between Quo gigs for me since I first saw them 46½ years ago. In fact, it already is. A sign of the times really. Caught them on their last winter tour of the UK in December 2017 and it'll be December 2020 before I see them again. Probably anyway. You just never know what you'll do with some PPI if it comes through the door. Vienna and Zurich may beckon

Would you rather know when it is your last Quo gig, or not?

Would you rather know when it is your last Quo gig, or not? We already did. With Milton Keynes. So I know what it feels like Yeah, I'd like to go to a 'last' gig like that again. Knowing that was it. And get on with the little time the selfish ba$tards have left me to do something else

Not sure I'd want to know.
Then I'd at least have hope (while they're still alive) and it would put too much pressure on the night, knowing I'd really have to enjoy every second of it while at the same time trying to take in as much as possible while at the same time the knowledge of hearing/seeing this or that for the last time would always be there. Can well imagine I'd end up disappointed with myself ..
It's probably the same as the band treating every gig the same for fear if they treat one special something might not work out the way it should due to the added pressure.

First Quo gigs
May 1979 Wembley Arena. I went with a girlfriend - we were right at the back of the arena, and didn't see an awful lot. She wasn't impressed, and we didn't last much longer (not helped by being on the opposite poles of London) but I was hooked! I wanted to go again - yesterday!
Jun 1979 Hammersmith Odeon - six weeks later. Somehow I got a tkt - I think it was an extra date 'by popular demand', so I got in. Got a seat at the back of the stalls - blown away!
