I'm the same as you really. Not all that clued up on them. I had a listen to an album they brought out either earlier this year or last - can't remember - and it was very 'Lizzy' like. Scott Gorham is in the band and he has Thin Lizzy engrained in him to the core so it's no real surprise. And the singer sounds very like Phil Lynott; no doubt deliberately. I suspect it'll be good fun with the odd Lizzy number of note thrown in the set to get the punters going.

Well, they wanted to record a new album but realized it would be strange to release new "Lizzy" songs without Phil, so they decided to re-brand the band, and over the course of their three studio albums so far they have somewhat evolved into their own entity - partially also because they lost the Lizzy members that had still been around a while ago (Brian Downey, who's off doing "Live and Dangerous", and Darren Wharton).

I got the first album "All Hell Breaks Loose" and while it was good I wasn't totally convinced. Will have to dig it out again. The last album is supposed to be excellent.

BSR have released three studio albums within the space of just 5 years. A fourth album is planned for release in 2019. I have seen them live four times thus far....and have enjoyed each one. The last time I saw them in early 2017 (just after the release of their third album 'Heavy Fire'), their setlist compromised of tracks from all their three studio albums along with just 'one' Thin Lizzy number ("The Boys Are Back In Town"). It's a pity that the current Quo are not likely to follow this same route. While I never wanted there to be a Status Quo-branded concert performance or album without the participation of BOTH Francis & Rick, I have begun to accept that the brand name will continue with Frame as the sole 'Frantic' in the band. Rather than continuing to play gigs featuring Quo songs of old - WYW, Rain, ROLD, Down Down, The Oriental etc - I would much prefer if the current Quo were to record & release three new albums within the next 5 years.... and for their future gigs to gradually move away from the old Quo numbers and instead concentrate on their new songs - just like the BSR proceeded to do. This track is from their second studio album: -

I’ve got all three albums and think each one has been better than the last. The first one was definitely the most Lizzy sounding, and worse for it I thought. Think in the most recent two they have started to evolve their own sound and have been better for it.

The song dublinquo has put up isn't bad. I still think it's very Lizzy-esque between the vocals and the chord sequences, particularly during the chorus. But I can live with that. A great band sadly missed. Most especially live I have to say. I wonder what a still existing Thin Lizzy would have in the set if it was close to an original or classic line up? I suspect a large number of 'old' songs would be in there, although they may have concentrated less on the 'hits'. Alas, we'll never know.

Well I have to say they are a great band who put on a cracking show. Bloody loud tho. They played mostly their own material plus Whisky in the Jar and Jailbreak,
Ricky Warwick is a great frontman with a real passion for what he does and an appreciation of the contribution the audience makes in keeping them on the road. His vocals come across as as a cross between Phil l & James Hatfield. It’s interesting to see onstage as you have got the great Scott Gorham onstage looking like an elder statesman and the rest of the younger guys looking like your archetypal long haired and tattooed rockers.
There was a couple of songs that left me a bit cold, also a couple that had the strong Lizzy Irishness about them and that’s a good thing.
2 good support bands and I got a cd and a hug from the bass player in the opening band. But In fainess he’d had a few drinks 😁
Great night out.
