craydarr 's post in the QPQ thread has inspired me to a new album series, 'what if' type. So if CDs had never existed and Quo had continued with short LP type albums, which songs would you include, which could you live without ? To make it a little bit harder I've limited the number to 8 songs instead of 10 max. this way we might even go back to some of the 70s albums like RAOTW, see what would disappear from these too. You can choose any order of songs that suits you. This time we're going to start with the most recent studio album containing original material and go back from there. So Bula Quo it is, which isn't exactly a challenge, seeing that the original album merely contains 9 songs anyway. It'll get harder from QPQ on though, which will be put up soon. To make it easier for you, this is the Bula Quo album as it is: Looking Out For Caroline GoGoGo Run and Hide Running Inside My Head Mystery Island All That Money Never Leave A Friend Behind Fiji Time Bula Bula Quo

My album would be GoGoGo Run and Hide Running Inside My Head Looking Out For Caroline All That Money Never Leave A Friend Behind Fiji Time Bula Bula Quo It’s not really hard this one, seeing as Mystery Island is a pile of poop. Mine would be the same as yours Snakelady.

I thought that would be a bit more of a challenge, but I've got to say it was relatively easy for me as well.

There are only 9 new tracks on the album (excluding the live stuff and the covers) and one of those is like a grotesque parody of something from South Pacific. So the other 8 it is And, for me, 6 of those are very good indeed.

Maybe with this album it's best to simply ask if there's anybody out there who'd leave out any tune other than Mystery Island ? And to generally turn this into polls, you lazy so-and-sos ..

I've thought since it came out that Bula Quo could be the band's most underrated album ever. Short and sweet but all very listenable - apart from 'the one'.
But it will always be associated with THAT movie.
Pity.

But it will always be associated with THAT movie. Pity. Absolutely agree. it's a great little album ! One problem with it is, that the band has never stood up for it as an album worth listening to (as opposed to a film not worth watching ..). It's as if they wanted to distance themselves from everything with Bula in the name. I assume the film is the reason many never even considered to buy the album. So yep, tainted with that name the album never stood a chance.

I like Mystery Island. The song I feel most prone to leaving out is Looking Out 4 Caroline. I know it's sort of a conceptual overture if you like but it just feels a bit worn out to me.

Yep, I know what you mean. It's a bit of a plodder which starts off promisingly a la You'll Come Round then sort of drifts into very familiar territory. Had it not been for Mystery Island, it would have been the one to go for me.

Agree with you and Billy, LOFC would've been 3rd on my list, after MI and the title song. That's about the only disappointing thing about the album (beside MI) - the quality of the Rossi/Young tracks. It's as if their hearts hadn't been into it, whereas it's relatively obvious that Rick and Rhino very much enjoyed it not being restricted by what's usually deemed fitting for a Quo album IMO.

I forgot to post an order. Well, maybe I'd put Running Inside My Head on #1 and leave the rest as is.

I would add the film version of Down Down and Living On An Island though.

It’s been such a long time since I listened to this album so I’ll have to check it out again and refresh my memory before I can create my eight track Bula album. It have to wait until next week though

This poll is not about your favourite tracks - find 8 to make it an 8-track album please from the ones available, even if it means you've got to use fillers. Imagine you were a band member in the 70s and had to choose the best tracks to make an album .. .
