I'm pleased that mortified got to see them. I know he said he'd find plenty to do otherwise but it's still a long way to travel for a gig that gets cancelled.

Wonder if Amy and Hannah got to sing lead on All The Reasons as they supposedly did at Glastonbury? Going by the article, they did. Nice to see that it was obviously written by a fan, who knew all the songs - and the way Francis dresses usually (white socks ! ). Although he has been wearing that red waistcoat before. Personally I'm so relieved that Nanana is still in ! @inna - that was quite a challenge ! My Spanish vocabulary isn't nearly what it used to be .. Maybe that 70s fan you quoted was Billy ? I'm sure we'll get a detailed report from him once he's back ..

Francis finally did it. I thought it was nice hearing him mention Rick and saying it was Ricks favourite song and he wrote whilst he was here. All I ever wanted and expected. Brought a little tear to my eyes. Nice one, Francis.

Yes, he did it. At last. It really wasn't too much to ask that they say a few words, and finally he did it. .. Don't think it has anything to do with 'too much to ask'. I'd assume he wasn't able to talk about Rick earlier as Rick had simply been too close to him. Not sure it's the right thing to do to project our expectations on Francis, that he has to do/say something when and how we want him to. Actually IMO it comes across a lot more sincere and heartfelt now than if he had said the same words at every single gig they've played so far. mortified - not that I want to put pressure on you, but can we please have a gig report.

Eh, mornin'. Didn't get in till after 1am this morning after the usual Ryanair cattle flight so I'm a little jaded. I was online yesterday, just looking in while I had access to Wi-Fi but I didn't post. I was mainly checking my e-mails. Sadly. The gig seems like a lifetime ago. Long story about houses not having electricity and having to find a bed at the last minute for 3 nights. In Spain. At the height of the summer. Not easy! Anyway, I enjoyed the gig which is the bottom line. The theatre was plush to say the least. And much larger than I expected. It had 6 layers in total; stalls and another 5 balconies. All with those old fashioned red cushioned chairs. We had great seats. Second row right in the middle. However, they cordoned off the front row so people couldn't wander down to the stage. We weren't allowed to stand anyway and, believe me, you do not mess with Spanish Catalan security! The set concentrated on the first Aquostic album. I thought it might. However, it wasn't exclusive. They played That's a Fact, Hold You Back and Lies from the second album. The encore was Burning Bridges which got everyone on their feet. And we were permitted to jump around a bit. It felt good. The best moment of the night for me was All The Reasons. They all just retreated to the back of the stage, subdued the lighting and let the girls do the singing. It was poignant and a worthwhile tribute. Do that every night and they don't need a memorial 'event'. That one moment in a set speaks volumes. Well, it does to me. Funniest moment, although he wouldn't agree, was Rhino forgetting the words during Reason For Living. He was cursing and swearing at himself and was not a happy boy. However, it amused me. Francis is always forgetting the words; as did Rick. Rick even did it at the Roundhouse during Rain. Barcelona was stiflingly hot but we were in a superb hotel just round the corner from the theatre on La Rambla. However, one observation we had was that there was no promotion whatsoever. There weren't even any posters at the theatre or any reference to Quo playing. There were certainly none in and around Barcelona. How anyone knew they were playing there was beyond me. Someone within the Quo camp should be asking for their money back from the Spanish promoter. Right. Another coffee beckons. All this typing is wiping me out Oh, and better put the after-sun on

mortified,
Your description of All The Reasons sounds just as I hoped it would after reading that Amy and Hannah sung lead earlier in the tour.
Poignant was the word I had in mind when I read that and delighted that's how you described it too.
On the bright, that bottle of after sun will probably last you years!

mortified ,
On the bright, that bottle of after sun will probably last you years! I know what you mean. It's lashing down here (again) and a positively balmy 13° I was looking forward to cooling down a bit but this is considerably more than I had in mind!

Entertaining report, mortified glad to hear that at least the gig was worth the trip - what with electricity failure, sunburn and exhausting travelling schedules .. That scene of Rhino's struggling with the lyrics is actually included in the video smokie put up further above. Put a wide grin on my face I've got to admit. While Quo are back to the electrics for now I start to really look forward to the acoustic gig in winter. For once they surprised me positively with the set, although I've got to admit I'd have Andy expected to sing the quieter Rick songs and Rhino the rockier ones - or maybe they should try out Ritchie as a singer ? Seems they've found a simple, effective and adequate way to remember Rick in the set with the girls singing ATR. Better than pompous speeches IMVHO.

Personally I find the electric hits set much more boring and very much look forward to hearing this in Dec. I'll merge these posts into the Barcelona thread.
