An enjoyable listen! Perhaps some won't like parts of it but overall, I thought it was fairly entertaining. He's always has something to say and if nothing else, he's always honest. Thanks The Lord Flasheart.

In the meantime I've listened to it - and it's a very enjoyable interview, what with the female interviewer behaving like a teenager in love . Francis not just talks commonplaces and phrases as do so many others, but he's showing his thought process, trying to explain - and as usual trying to be honest. Things with him never are just great or plain horrible, there's always relativities, connections and the bigger picture for him. And like @inna I appreciate what he said about Rick. It showed the underlying friendly relationship between them was still there, despite not having been the 'best pals' from their teenage years any longer. Again a lot more believable than a mere 'he was great' or similar.

I've got some time on my hands, so..............
When I said that some might not like parts of it, I was referring to his comments regarding Rick.
I've no doubt that there will be someone, somewhere who will take exception that he wasn't in pieces when Rick was mentioned but (I think anyway) that he was as honest as he could be about it. I don't think there's any secret that they weren't as close in the end as they once were but surely that is to be expected?
I wonder how often Mick and Keith speak? Pete and Roger? etc
Interesting to hear about his kids and grandkids too, a good all round interview I think.

But if Keith or Mick could no longer continue (or died) do you really think either of them would keep The Stones going? Nah... that's the end, as I think it should have been with Quo.

That leads to the question: If your colleague dies (early, due to his lifestyle), should you lose your job and main source of income too, even if you're still fit enough and want to work for a few more years yet ? Would the answer have been the same, had Rick died at 58, 38 or 28 ? Mick and Keith are considerably older than the Quo boys and you can't really call them a working band. As near as no gigs and the fact they are so rare turns them into 'events'. Most people go to these events to be able to say 'I've seen the Stones'. Doubt that would still work with Keith missing (well, you could replace him with Johnny Depp .. ) and no way would it work without Mick. Most people go to Quo gigs for the music and because Quo have a very good reputation as a live band. Any single one ingredient isn't that important as with M+K although, having been sold as a double act for decades F+R always have stood out as well. What I really liked about the tour last winter though was, that it was a band up there on stage and everybody got their share in the limelight (maybe apart from Ritchie, who consciously kept to the background). So IMVHO you can't really compare the two bands and it should be left to the band members to decide whether they want to continue to work and (under the name). And then it's up to the fans to decide for themselves whether they want to continue to see them. But why categorically punish the others for something that hasn't been their fault ?

It's no longer an argument worth debating as the band have decided they are continuing as Status Quo around the world.
