This Wednesday I’m going to see Massive Wagons in Southampton, am really looking forward to going but am slightly apprehensive due to the obvious.
Probably when I get this one out of the way I’ll be fine.
I can’t be anymore prepared as I’ve had 2 jabs and covid once, so I can’t do anymore.
Any tips from other gig goers.

I've got Genesis on Fri 1 Oct. I'm going with my brother-in-law, who is a stubborn mule (gets it from H.M. The Wife, methinks) who won't get jabbed because he "reacts to injections". So now he has to prove that he doesn't have Covid - but he won't find out how to prove it. So it's yours truly who does the donkey work. For your information, the Edgbaston cricket ground kindly provided the information required. How do spectators prove they have had a negative NHS Lateral Flow Test result?

Not got anything in the pipeline apart from Rhino's Revenge and Quo next year. However, my step-daughter was at a gig on Thursday in Bristol; Blackberry Smoke. No idea how it went because she and Mrs Mortified's relations are a little, eh, strained because said step-daughter has not had her second vaccine and seems reluctant to do so (various lame excuses), and probably through nothing more than complacency. I have to admit, it seems a little selfish to me if you're going to go out and about - unmasked - to things like gigs, pubs, the office etc and not be fully vaccinated. The risk to others' health, never mind your own, isn't a fantasy. It's real. I love her to bits but it's attitudes like that which means it will take longer to come out of all of this

It was great btw, but I am currently a bit hesitant about wanting to repeat it too often.

For your information, the Edgbaston cricket ground kindly provided the information required. How do spectators prove they have had a negative NHS Lateral Flow Test result?Fuel shortage not withstanding, we got to see No Time to Die in Stevenage on Thurs 30th (no spoliers here), and Genesis in Newcastle in Fri 1st. The Genesis tour was billed as The Last Domino?, and when the tour was announced just before lockdown 2020, it was reasonable to assume that this would be their last outing as Genesis. Fast forward to 1st Oct, and it became apparent why. We've known for some years that Phil Collins can't hold a drumstick, but now he can't stand up. He scraped through with his vocals, but even then he struggled with the high notes. Great show, young Nic was excellent on drums, but so sad to see Phil in declining health. No tamborine dance this year, alas. GENESIS Set list 1) Duke's Intro 2) Turn It on Again 3) Mama 4) Land of Confusion 5) Home by the Sea 6) Fading Lights - Cinema Show - Afterglow (medley) 7) Hold On My Heart 8) Jesus He Knows Me 9) That's All 10) Lamb Lies Down 11) Follow You, Follow Me 12) Duchess 13) No Son of Mine 14) Firth of Fifth 15) I Know What I Like 16) Domino 17) Throwing it All Away 18) Tonight, Tonight, Tonight 19) Invisible Touch ENCORE 20) I Can't Dance 21) Dance With the Moonlit Knight (I may be wrong, but I think that got dropped)22) Carpet Crawlers JAMES BOND 25 - NO TIME TO DIE
Watched the film in 2D with the 4DX experience. 4DX overrated, gimmicky - in fact, I'd say it was a distraction (certainly for this film). Maybe if it was a 3D showing it may have been better. I didn't find the film too long, but I did find it corny in places. Good story line, very gritty, only one gadget.

My only experience of anything like a gig recently was the Francis Rossi tour which came to Winchester's Theatre Royal. Most people didn't wear masks, and a couple came in after I'd sat down was surprised that there was no social distancing - it turned out they'd booked the seats either side of me, so wanted me to move one seat to the left to enable them to sit together!! As this meant I had a better view of the stage (and Francis) I didn't mind. That was on 5th September, so as I'm still ok I don't feel too worried about the Rhino gig in January 2022. I will hopefully have been given my booster jab by then too, so I will be triple jabbed!

I have been looking at clips of this on YouTube and he does look rather frail and his voice isn’t what it once was. From the clips I’ve seen it still looks good, if people are happy to pay and the band want to play then crack on I say 🙂 It looks a good set list tho 👍

I saw the stranglers a number of years ago on the same bill as Quo at Guillfest, very good they were too.
I have Fish coming up next month (Did you get tix Morty ?)
I’m considering going to see Myles Kennedy and also Dust Coda in December. They r within 2 night of each other so I may just do one of them.
The next one after that is Quo in March at Oxford.
Nothing else planned so far.

I haven't done anything really since lockdown in March 2020 apart from the odd restaurant and one holiday in a remote cottage a month or so back. Mrs Mortified isn't keen and is taking longer to become confident of going out and back into crowds or gatherings. We're waiting on our boosters. Maybe that will help. Alabama 3 are playing Edinburgh in April and I've always wanted to see them, so maybe that's a target after Quo in March.

It’s understandable about the gig things as I was apprehensive, Fish falls about 10 days after I should have my booster jab. Re seeing him, if you miss him this time you must catch him next time as he says it will be his last tour as he’s retiring. I know we hear that all the time but by the way he’s talking I think it sounds genuine…. unless he gets a tax bill I s’pose🙂 I am currently trying to persuade Mrs B to come and see Alabama 3 with me, you should go at least once they are a great live band.

Wayne Love) so I wondered if I'd missed the boat. They've also just brought out a new album that I haven't grabbed yet, although I've listened to some samples and it sounds great. I really should treat myself to the gig I even have an Alabama 3 facemask. Sadly

I currently feel like that about a lot of people, Quo, Robert Cray, Fish, Alabama 3 mainly because they r of that age where you don’t know how much longer they’ll be doing it for.

I missed Cheap Trick when they first toured the UK and given they hardly come here I think this will be my 5th or 6th time seeing them. The Stranglers have always been one of my favourite bands. Still remember them at the Glasgow Apollo being supported by Barbershop singers - very weird.

Looks like the diary is getting fuller.
Now we have Quo in Dec 22 and Ghost at the o2 London in April
Just a wee note on Talon (Eagles tribute) from the beginning of the month - now I am not a huge Eagles fan but Talon were excellent and made me realise how many Eagles songs I know as well as liked. Highly recommended

I presume they're doing a summer stadium tour. Never been a fan - maybe the odd song - but I did think about popping along. Always was a Joe Walsh fan

Always was a Joe Walsh fan I was going to treat my better half and my sister to the Murrayfield one, but decent tickets were astronomical and cheaper tickets were no good as they were either too far away or stuck up the top of the stands. Doesn't help that the pair of them are both short arses!! My heart was in the right place.

You're all heart I never actually looked at tickets so I have no idea how much they are. Knowing me, I'll never get round to it. And no one will notice.

The Wedding Present at the Kentish Town Forum were excellent. Last saw them at Brixton Academy 29 years previously where to be honest they bored me. However they were spot on from start to finish on Saturday.

Cats in Space on the 7th Dec was cancelled, however the Wildhearts on the 13th in Reading was absolutely amazing. I managed to be at the front and boy did they sound loud. My ears were fuzzy for 3 days. Great last gig of the year.
