I was at that 1982 gig (and the '89 one). 1982 in Glasgow was when they played Dear John the first night but not the second. Strangely, it's one of those things I remember for some reason. Probably because it was the only song from the new album they played. Not sure which night 1st May was. The set will no doubt just mirror the Charlie gig otherwise. The '89 gig will presumably be the same as the NEC one as well. Was it definitely not played the 2nd night? As I have a bootleg from the 1st May show (2nd Night) which includes Dear John. The 1982 broadcast is the full show asides from Dear John* and Down Down being cut from the broadcast. It's a long time ago but I remember commenting on it to my sister when we came out and we were heading for the train. Just one of those insignificant little things you tend to remember. I can't recollect much else about the gig except that the previous night we had run a bus from the office through to Glasgow. Me and sis went on our own the second night. It was obvious on the first night that Francis was struggling to sing it. Similar to the occasional step back from the mic during Down Down in more recent years. Unless they did 3 nights but I'm pretty sure we'd have been at all of them and I only remember going to 2. But then I guess the memory can play tricks. Especially after 37½ years!

I think if all the band members wore a harness attached to which was a bungee cord with a karabiner on the end, and a pelmet was to run the full length of the stage behind which ran a high tensile line wire that the karabiner's attached onto this could add some serious energy to live performances. If all components harness/bungee cord/karabiner/pelmet/line wire could be bundled up into a system then it could be considered a product. BQOUNCE or something like that.

Get in touch with (oh) Mr Porter. He'll go for that. Might be royalties in it for you Not sure about the name though. Need to work on that. Maybe the Quontraption or some such. Who says Quo fans are unimaginative, denim clad dullards?

Actually, I'm on a roll. Here's another one I'd love to see come out; Liverpool Pops 2005 . It was a fabulous gig and the freebie CD's, I reckon, have given us the best version of Rain I've ever heard and a superb rendition of Roll Over Lay Down. Again, one of the best ever. The medley on the Party.... bonus CD is also extremely good. The band were just blistering that night and as heavy as I think they might have ever sounded. There is presumably a full recording of the whole gig. Put it out there I say! You listening? Hoy!

There is footage of the band playing at Zurich Airport in 2004, XS all areas tour

During these years the band was fantastic live - so full of renewed energy and it was exciting to go to gigs again ! Would be great to get good live versions of Heavy Traffic and Solid Gold too. The only ones I have are Neza and Francis was struggling there due to the altitude.

I would love to see one off live gigs or short tours covering classic albums and then release them as live albums / dvds. A lot of bands these day build tours around massive albums for them. 2 albums per show, fan club events etc. Finance them themselves and then sell them from the website and at gigs, surely they would make a good profit from them ? Yeah, that's a common thing to do these days. And they seem to be very popular. Human League have toured the Dare! album, The Cure did Disintegration and of course Yes recently played Relayer in full. ...which is the one album they've tried to resist ever since they started touring this format in 2013, if I remember correctly! I think they did The Yes Album, Close to the Edge and Going for the One, then later Fragile too.

Approach with caution Well, I know this sounds slightly like the dodgy ideas we used to read from swisscheese, but I was wondering what the band could do to maintain their profile after the success of "Backbone" - something that wouldn't require the same amount of consideration as another all-new album. And here's what I've been thinking of, it could be a 2 or 3 CD broken up into three distinct parts: The Family - new recordings Lonesome Road (for Rick Parfitt) The House (for Bernie Frost) Is Someone Rocking Your Heart (electric) No Time Left to Cry ... plus songs that didn't make the cut for Backbone ... plus perhaps a fair few new recordings of Quo classics, possibly with guest stars (but with rock credibility, please!) Aquostic III Don't Waste My Time Can't Give You More Someone Show Me Home Runaway What You're Proposing (Live at the Royal Albert Hall) [only available on vinyl so far] Lies (Live at the Royal Albert Hall) [completely cut out from the CD and vinyl versions] Down the Dustpipe (Live at the Royal Albert Hall) [only available on vinyl so far] All the Reasons (Live at the Royal Albert Hall) [only available on vinyl so far] For You [only available on vinyl so far] Break the Rules (Live at SWR1) Again and Again (Live at SWR1) Paper Plane (Live at SWR1) Softer Ride (Live at SWR1) Down Down (Live at SWR1) A Reason for Living (Live at SWR1) Rain (Live at SWR1) ... plus new acoustic versions of a few songs from after 2005 Live in the Here & Now Cut Me Some Slack Liberty Lane Little Lady Backwater Mystery Song Don't Drive My Car

They could work on another self penned album while it's quiet.

quolion Not so crazy about rebuying Backbone - I'd rather get the gig on its own. The rest I second. Unfortunately, solo albums tend to fly under the radar, so I guess not all of them will be up for it (especially Francis who's just released We Talk Too Much). I hope Quoincidence can push the anthology project forward. I still think it should be called "Forty-Five Hundred Times" but it's maybe a mouthful

Francis was up for a 2nd album with Hannah Rickard but she got pregnant. Also earMUSIC want another Quo album first but I’m not sure what Francis think about it... I think Rhino and Leon working on solo Material right now and Richie will be rocking again with his old mates from RAID. Only Andy seems to be more interested in re-releasing his old solo albums.

Is what quolion says above true so? He's usually well informed All just his own ideas. There is no Anthology in the works, however there's plenty of other things. I think they're steering away from physical releases tbh. Few things in the works, but I dont think anything will be coming this year now

Scratch what I said.
A release due for this year is still on the cards, and some stuff for next year. Physical releases.

I shouldn't think they'll be playing many - if any - gigs this year. And being able to compose and record individually these days makes things possible. Download only possibly because manufacture and distribution etc. could be problematic but let's not speculate too much.

I’d like all four gigs from Rock Til You Drop to be released on dvd.
Next year would be perfect timing , with it being the 30th anniversary of the event .
