I've ordered the red vinyl and a cd. Actually dont remember if it was the standard cd or the digipack tough. What's the difference except the actual sleeve? Are there bonus material included in the digipack? I may be wrong but the difference will be two extra tracks on the digi pack. You are right. The standard CD has 11 tracks and the digipack has 13. Although I think the 2 bonus tracks are together on a 7" vinyl if you wanted to buy them that way. Edit. Sorry didn't see your reply Dark, must have been on the next page. At least we've said the same thing!

I checked my order, and yes it is the digipack with the the bonus songs I’ve ordered😊 By the way: I have also ordered the orange vinyl OTL from that german page, I really do hope it will be delivered ok. Bought the green vinyl FF Glasgow 2013 and it arrived safely very quick😊

Ordered the box set now, via jpc.
I'm surprised anybody chose the standard CD - really don't see the point as for a few bits more you get 2 extra tracks...

Got to say the digipack is a nice package. Like the overall design, booklet with lyrics contains some good band pics too. And lovely gesture to dedicate it to Rick.

I wonder, now that we've been talking about the new album for a while and everybody's been raving about the bonus track Face The Music, has any of those who merely had the 11 song version at first now bought the digipack as well or at least downloaded the bonus tracks ?
And I've started to think about this whole bonus track thing. Why release a longer and shorter version to start with ? Surely they don't expect people to buy both, the way some may get vinyls additionally or go for the package with the t-shirt. I doubt they'd sell any less albums if merely one CD type existed.
What it can create though is bad feelings by those who now have merely part of the new songs, which in the case of more common fans or the general public certainly happened out of ignorance.
I remember there was a time (HT ?) when they added a bonus track to the UK version and the rest of the world got a song less - for the same money. What kind of message was that supposed to get across - that everybody else was considered second class fans ? I sure wasn't too happy about it when I found out ..
Then we got different bonus tracks for different countries. Maybe that created a handful more sales, although I doubt many will have bought two versions just to get one more song. And I'm sure some ended up saying 'I should've bought the other - I do prefer that bonus track ..'.
So why do there have to be so called bonus tracks at all ??

So why do there have to be so called bonus tracks at all ??It's obviously a marketing ploy but I have no idea what it sets out to achieve. Of course, there will be collectors (like me) who will have an album in various formats but I'm part of a very small minority so I'm not sure it will have much of an impact on sales. Which, frankly, is the point of ALL marketing. I haven't bought the ordinary CD with the 11 tracks on it. Didn't see much point. And the European thing a few years back with Heavy Traffic and In Search Of The Fourth Chord seemed an odd thing to do. I've never seen a Heavy Traffic CD without Money Don't Matter on it so it's sort of become collectable for that reason in the UK. The Party Ain't Over Yet also wasn't left untouched. There was an Australian version which had an extra CD with single B-sides and live tracks on it, including the medley from Liverpool Pops in 2005 which, as far as I know, has not been available anywhere else. It's very good as well! The reason behind these 'bonus' tracks is a little lost on me and unless you happen to just pick up the basic CD in the local supermarket, it's fairly obvious online that there are different versions. Beats me

I think the Liverpool Pops medley was released on the Edsel reissue of TPAOY, although that was a rather half-assed deluxe edition and could have encompassed a whole lot more. As for the bonus tracks... ZZ Top's latest album (La Futura) had two bonus tracks that were only available in the US, and it's a short CD anyway. And Mark Knopfler is making it continually hard for fans to keep up. Down the Road Wherever exists as a standard CD, papersleeve deluxe CD (with three bonus tracks), and a box set. The box set contains the deluxe CD plus a vinyl 12" with three additional songs not on any CD! But if you buy the regular double LP (which does NOT contain the bonus songs from the deluxe CD), you get a download code with all songs... To say I don't like these exclusive and special editions is an understatement. At least in this case the "full" CD is available easily, if you know it exists.

What I'd really like to know: How come three of you haven't acquired the new album in any format ?
It's just - this is a Quo mb and fans on here will be more than just casual. So why aren't you interest in new product from the band, if I may ask ?

Sorry, didn't think of the virtual options. Maybe craydarr can delete the poll and set it up again including all options ? Wouldn't know how to do that?? I didn't know just what to do, to do

I haven't ordered the album in any format. I could have been tempted if their was a Banksy format. What a buzz that would be! You get home from the record shop, prime up the turntable on your Binatone stack system with the diamond stylineedle hovering like Concorde over the landing strip (which is getting nearer), you strip off the cellophane and open up the gatefold cover to reveal incredible images of your heroes doing their stuff - Francis flicks back his head sending his long dark locks dramatically back to clear his face -but then-those locks suddenly turn into a large cloud of dandruff - as you wait for the cloud to clear you eagerly start to remove the vinyl from the sleeve - the cloud clears and their stands Francis with his short back and sides As you clear the vinyl from the sleeve it totally self shreds denying you the opportunity to put it on the landing strip. Funny thing is, I have much more appreciation for the cover albums now. I now easily accept that they are a cover / tribute band. Maybe I am getting poppy in the old age.

Nope, Loz, it's more like wondering why a fan wouldn't buy an album from their favourite band. I don't like all Quo albums either - that's why I never bought Spare Parts and Don't Stop after having made the mistake of buying 1982 more than 3 decades after its release and I still can't stand it. I'm aware though, that you've never listened to the Backbone songs in full, but judged it by the snippets

It's funny; I've discussed that with Mrs Mortified on numerous occasions and we agree that Francis is probably the only one who now bears absolutely no resemblance, appearance wise, to his former self in the 70's and early 80's. When you put two pictures of them side by side, it's like two different people. Even facially. I don't think I've ever seen anyone change with age so much. It's like he metamorphosed into his own granddad. Actually, no; someone else's granddad! Usually there will be a hint of the younger person somewhere. In all of us. With Francis, I just can't see it any more. Oh, and I've added the standard CD to the list at the top. I bought the one with the free Backbone plectrums in it
